Ottawa Regional Game of Thrones LCG Darknoj Blog
So a lot of people have been sending me request to see “dirty girl” and for that reason I have decide to take the time I would have spent writing a very detailed tournament report and instead write up the deck. I did however write up, very quickly, my last two games below. I also took the time to post the fourth, third and second place decks.
I will post "Dirty Girl" some time next week.
Warning: the below is unedited....which means the spelling, sentence structure and gramer is gone be very bad.
Sem-Final Round vs Jon C Lannister Power Behind the Throne (shadow kneel)
Check out Jon's deck at http://www.cardgamed...4th-place-r1052
I wish I could say that their was an epic back and forth between Jon and I, but really it all came down to Jon taking a gamble on turn one that blew up in his face.
His set-up contained a Castellan of the Rock and Jon felt that he had an opportunity to take control of the board. So he opened with Frey Hospitality. I opened with Fury of the Wolf and chose to go first. During marshaling I put Meeria into shadows and quickly popped her back out to blank Castellan's text.
While Jon was able to kneel Luwin with a Enemy informer I still had a Maester of Last Hearth and an oldtown raven standing, as well as a carrion bird and a dire wolf pup. I began with a mil challenge which Jon blocked but lost and chose to kill his Enemy informer I then trigger my plot to kill Castellan. I followed with a int from my old town raven which Jon chose to lose so that he could get two of his own int challenges through later.
With only Bron and a Septa on the board it was Jon's turn. Jon attacked with his Septa and played Insidious Ways. I blocked with my Maester and used Copper Link to make him a creature so that he gave himself an additional +1. I also used Pale steel link to play Shaggy Dog on to the maester. Jon cursed him self for wasting the Insidious Ways. Well at least Bron would kill something...Jon made another int attack to only be blocked from jumping Catelyn and -2 from Shaggy Dog. His board was cleared and I had six power already.
The game was over at that point. Two turns later Jon Valed but I had to many saves on the board and I still managed to win the next turn.
Final Round vs Adrian playing Lannister Maester (clansmen)
Check out Adrain's deck at http://www.cardgamed...2nd-place-r1054
I had given suggestions to Adrian on the deck for the month or so leading up to the tournament; some he took but many he just laughed at me for. This meant unlike everyone else in the tournament who was utterly surprised to see a clansmen deck and had trouble adjusting, I was ready for this game. I knew if I could get my Killer of the Wounded (KotW), Shaggy Dog lock on him he would have a very hard time winning. I looked down at my first seven cards to see KotW and kept the hand.
The game was a ultra grind with clansmen taking an early board advantage with a strong Fear of Winter opening turn. The second turn my challenge lock was in place but on turn three it was returned to hand with first snow. I managed to keep a key maester on the board and replay KotW next turn to lock him out again. I Outwited next plot but the val I was expecting did not come. I held off the clansmen with my combo and sniped at his hand and for power with unopposed int challenges.
Adrian final Valed on turn six to kill KotW but I had used gold link pre-plot and saved all my key guys. I flooded the board played Grey Wind and new I most likely had this game. Then I played another maester and Adrain screamed “Finally” as he played A House Divided to return the maester with most of my chains on him to my hand. Sadly for Adrian I got a enough power that the additional power from The Minstrel's Muse in dominance won me the game and the regional that round.
I wanted to post the fourth place deck as well since it was so different then something I would expect to go this far in a regional event. It was run by Trevor and you can find it here: http://www.cardgamed...3rd-place-r1053
