In this evenings musing i'll be covering what is arguably "the best 4 days in gaming" in any given year or situation. I am of course referring to the nerd-topia that is Gen-Con. This year Gen-Con (as always) is at the illustrious indianapolis convention center. Taking place from august 16th-19th myself and most (stop being a little girl, john) of my play group are going to be experiencing our very first, unfortunately lol, tournament play or even organized event period. Essentially were the knight of flowers and this is the first frost of what could be a harsh winter. I (arrogantly) like to view myself as the red viper, Valorous, Couragous, ****SPOILER ALERT**** and most importantly of all not dead after that run in with the mountain that rides. As a very big fan of the series (books) this epic turning point in the series and the showdown in general is how my play style feels , Controlled, calculated, viscious, devious, tricky even and then (contrary to the books) i move in for the final blow. All of these things are for naught if i don't know my opponent though, preperation and practice made the Viper all the difference. Now with all the flowery talk and set up the real question, how do i win? The deck, learning the rules, learning my deck, all make the difference, but i need the help of those that have been on the circuit for a while to keep from being knocked out early in both the melee and the joust. Having played in other gen con tournament events for other card games (WoW , world of warcraft, worlds tournament 5 places out of day 2) has at least prepared me for the stress of tournament play on a "professional" level. The play group i play in has both a greyjoy maester chain deck and a lannister power behind the throne agenda deck, im not looking to tech against specific decks just get a feel for popular decks that i might encounter to learn their weaknesses, strengths and usual house affiliations. Comment if you have can help and thank you in advance, because i'd rather not have my gen con experience end the similairly to Oberyn Martell's ending....

I don't have much experience with the cons but I'm definitely thinking about going next year. Looking forward to seeing how it all goes for you.
hope to see you, the cons are HUGE , well gen con is anyway. im working on 2 decks, both martell, at the moment, one joust one melee, 2 questions how do i build a deck on this site it continually denies me the ability lol and second any suggestions for plots for a melee deck? with a limited play group i can't really get a solid test in melee-wise
