I guess this is proof that, for Jedi at least, the so-called "toolbox" approach works pretty well. Makes sense, since you're using inherently strong units vs looking for certain combos like some decks, which are better served by repeating sets.

I think it's still a bit early to call this proof. All decks are going to be evolving throughout store championships and until it starts to settle down a bit I think we'll see different decks winning every one.

I wouldn't mind if 1x builds became more popular. Great decks Toggle, and thanks for the explanations.

Now that scum has real pods. Playing against Corrupt officials with the slave trade draw engine feels like a loaded hand of Sabacc.

I didn't have issues with it. It doesn't really change the focus of the deck. Since its less gimmicky than earlier builds I was using, I can work with what mains my deck spits out. There are probably better shields, Ewok, or enhancement-based builds out there that would benefit from a more stable draw, but this is more my style (and it keeps people guessing).

Running the mains in pairs actually resulted in a better deck comp because I didn't have redundant unique enhancements, too many training ground glut, and double copies of undesirable objectives. I didn't want to put more than two of a given main to avoid draw issues when they are already out. There's some nice synergy with the new and old versions.

Balance Obi was never on the chopping block, but new Obi was a Red Five for a long time in testing. However, his objective and board presence were very welcome. Following Fate is awesome (and insane with Yavin out). Also, putting shielding on Luke, Yoda, or Obi is fantastic.

Both Yoda sets are great, but aren't heavy on blast. I didn't want more than 2, but I wanted a Seeds and a Hut. Plus, you can choose which Yoda you want with 1 You Seek Yoda.

New Luke and old Luke sets complement each other very nicely, for obvious reasons.

I like the logic you use here, very well said dude!

Does anyone have any info from the store champs that happened at the FFG event center?

From Mick on the FFG boards:

The Fantasy Flight Event Center held its Store Championship today (Jan 10th).  We had 13 people in attendance and did 4 rounds of swiss with a cut to top 4.  I was undefeated in swiss and soared through the beginning of the top cut—there was some crazy first turn Luke action followed by a DS turn with no units to replenish his board—to face off against Josh Grace again.  Joshua and I had already played 3 games during the day and I had beaten him all 3 times, 2 of them being very close, but it was the final 2 games that mattered and his tight play pulled him through.  Once again the Sith rule the galaxy:

1st place (Josh)

Affiliation: Sith

Fall of the Jedi x2

Counsel of the Sith x2

Emperor’s Web x2

Executor Arrives x2

Agent of the Emperor x2

Affiliation: Jedi

Hero’s Journey x2

Hero’s Trial x2

In You Must Go x2

Secret of Yavin IV x1

Forgotten Heroes x1

Watchers in the Wasteland x1

Following Fate x1

2nd place (me)

Affiliation: Scum

Masterful Manipulation x2

All Out Brawl x2

Slave Trade x2

Slimiest Scheme x2

Lucrative Contract x2

Affiliation: Jedi

Hero’s Journey x2

Master’s Domain x2

Secret of Yavin IV x2

Jedi Training x2

Flight of the Crow x1

Following Fate x1

Expected the Executor to show up again sooner or later with all the new sacrifice stuff Jedi received.

I still dislike In You Must Go, but it certainly is good seeing "bad pods" winning. May motivate other to try them as well.

I do like your LS deck a lot, though I can't help imagining an annoying voice saying "Yes, the Force is mine and there's nothing you can do about it, *****".

Sounds like a challenge.  ;)

For me, though, I've been waiting for Jedi to shine and I'll be getting my MTFBY Yoda and new Leia at the same time as I get BtS, so I'm most likely playing Jedi. As for whether I'll win ... not likely.

Shenanigans.
Not saying it is a better deck than Jedi but it can win a Store Championship.
