Only gotten one test with my Urien deck. It was against a deck probably least suited to do great vs. Urien -- Chaos elite, throne of vainglory deck.

Got to use Power from Pain twice to wipe out lone units that were on the board. Soul Seizured a Vicious Bloodletter and Prodigal Sons Disciple on last big battle of the game. Visions of Agony used twice to cripple his combo plans.

Fun game. Not a great test.

So with Shuriken Catapult out what is the state of the Hypex-Mandrake deck?

Whenever you need two attachments on a three of unit that's a pretty tough thing to build a deck around. Pretty good when it works, but not a solid gameplan overall I'd say

Sure. Decks I've seen use Altansar Rangers, too, and still function with just the Hypex. I've never built that way for the reason you point out. Just curious how it is working for devotees of the injector.

Hypex-Mandrake already had the rune encustred armor, but as it's been mentioned, voltron síndrome is not good without ways to protect the unit.

Still, Urien has draw control and Visions of agony. If you focus on limiting his army unit control cards, an unstoppable fattened Mandrake becomes playable.

Just wanted to check I did this right:
Turn 1
Planet 1 has Tallarn Raider. I let him win it.
Planet 2 has another Tallarn, Worr, and an Anxious squad. I let him kill my Rogue Trader and win it.
Planet 3 is Tarrus. I have Urien there. I kill his Mordians, and trigger Tarrus.
Then, there is a combat phase, action window AFTER all planet battles have completed, correct? Because that's when I played all three Power From Pains, getting us both back to 0 units for Turn 2. Was I allowed to?

That is correct. I actually asked this last week in the rules forum, and it is pretty clear cut.

Still on page 1, if you want ktom's answer :)

Specifically there's a combat action window before the check for a battle at each planet. This is how, for example, Aun'shi can trigger his Orbitals/Kanyon strike to start battles at later planets. Then, after the checks for each battle have concluded there is a final action window right at the end of the phase, between the battle at the final planet and the end of the phase.

So yes, there's definitely an available window there for you

so any plans for the new torture/DE cards that got spoiled? I was wondering specifically if anyone had a plan in mind for cuts? Is it worth including or is it just another sad broken promise for Urien?

defenetly worth it imho.

2 shields, 0 cost torture is anyway a good thing for Urien.

You can use it to kill command line, or prepare for the Klaivex or help the venomous Fiend to be even more devastating;)

@Ezeraul

Urien is such a strange warlord. Never managed to make it work. ^^ Let me know how this deck performed in your tests.

And I have one naive question: What is the combo between Pain Crafter and Fearmonger? I'm not sure I get it.

@Ezeraul I agree with Loubino, wouldn't the more efficient combo for a discard deck be Mandrake Fearmonger + Hypex Injector?

I guess the Pain Crafter would be useful to increase the Fearmonger's attack, therefore increasing its chances of dealing damage to allow it to trigger the reaction.

You could try running Biel-Tan Warp Spiders, Prophetic Farseer and maybe Slake the Thirst to synergise more with the discard idea.

Very interesting deck!

Yes you would hypex the mandrakes and use pain Crafters so they actually deal damage.

Downside with slake is the higher cost to play and tapping warlord.

Warp spiders aren't bad it just gets difficult fitting enough into the deck. As I said not sure deck can do enough damage to win in the end
