I was perusing the updated FAQ and want to reference the new update on page 24 regarding status as defender for title support. To me this was a bit unclear before but seems pretty clear now. As a Martell player it seems to me I can choose to support but just enough so that the supported player and I still lose so I can initiate a storm of a effects. I'm thinking Taste for Blood (PotS) and Areo Hotah (PotS) among many others. The flip side is even though I wouldn't be responsible for claim my understanding is for a plot like Frey Hospitality (LotR) if I supported and lost both me and the supported player would have to satisfy the kill effect from the plot.

If my thoughts are correct this opens up possibilities I didn't think were previously possible to more "safely" activate win/lose effects.

Hmmm good question on Frey Hospitality. Yeah I think you're right there. I'll ask Ktom for clarification purposes though.

I re-read on page 16 of the core rules and re-read the paragraph in the FAQ and the language seems to make it pretty clear that the player doing the supporting is the only "defending player". The supported character is no longer involved in the challenge with the exception of claim.
