I wonder how Vezuel decks can deal with the huge elites from Naz decks? especially with clear cut refuge and elites

Specialisation. If you check Free's decklists at traxisector you notice his final deck is completely different than (probably) swiss phase version.

Swiss deck: http://www.traxissec...k=370&public=y

Finals deck: http://www.traxissec...ck=365&public=y

To be fair, that deck contains 7 new champions cards, ie 3x copies of both uber powerful new ambush units plus 1x warfather. So doesn't quite answer how vezuel pre champions would have been equipped / tooled up to deal with kaloo's deck.

So maybe he had luck to avoid such deck in previous rounds and when he reached finals, champion cards were available so he put them and added some silver bullets (anti support) like imperial fists.

Traditionally, Vez would need to rely on the Garrison and the Deathstorm Drop Pods in order to get around elites since the Garrison helps guarantee command wins whilst the Drop Pods are a form of damage that can't be Backlashed (which especially helps getting past low hp elites like the Possessed, Vyper and (to a lesser extent) Battlewagon). Otherwise, Exterminatus is a great include given cards in reserve are immune to it and the Imperial Fists Devastators are a generally decent include given most supports are locations anyway.

Of course, when you can drop in a 2 cost ambush unit and kill 2 elites all of the above becomes irrelevant :P

#Kaloo: do you mean the Veteran Crusader? Killing 2 elites with that is fairly chance-dependant/situational, I'd have thought.

As for other tools availabke to SM decks for dealing with elites...Indominatable never goes out of fashion!

Havent had much time to comment about the list, but kaloo summed it up really well :). The final was weird since i guessed (correctly) he would tech against deep strike so i had to tech against the tech and the champion cards were perfect for what i needed.

But focusing on the standard list if i had to go blind the strategy vs an elite build is:

Outcommand them really hard, as you can put a "command unit" on all planets fairly easily with garrison without the 2 main drawbacks of command cappers:

-They cant be killed by enemy warlord so he does not deny you there next turn.

-They can be upgraded to good combat units when needed.

During command focus heavily on resources, as they are vezuels fuel (You get lots of cards just from his ability) and deny your opponent from playing more elites.

The combat itself relies a lot on out of combat dmg coming from deathstorm drop pods, and sig unit. Indomitable helps make more attacks since it is a midrange deck you can "swarm" elites with multiple units.

Also exterminatus + Devastators (They were actually 2x in my standard swiss build too but forgot them when remaking it) stop/scare the enemy from the planet moving attempts.

Even with all of these, the plan can obviously fail if you dont see those key cards and they get STC early and can snowball its efficiency.
