I too played against Nate's deck this past Sunday even though I had captured almost a 1/3 of the deck. I couldn't beat the second copy of Brainiac + Han Solo.

I do what I can. I actually really messed up in the top cut and I may have been able to place higher. I had an opportunity to copy Bamboozled with IDLYE and it would've allowed me to kill Han, and win on the next turn, but I didn't notice it until after the engagement. Oh well.

Hello all, I'm David. This is my first time posting on these forums but I've been playing for about six months and have been lurking on here pretty regularly for a while.

Here's a late report of the store championship in Abbotsford on June 3rd:

9 participants, 2 rounds placement and two rounds of top cut.

After 3 rounds I faced up for a final against Tim who won Vancouver area Regionals back in February and won two very close, nerve wracking, games to take the win.

My decklists:

LS (2-1-1

2 x May the Force Be With You

2x The Last Warrior

2 x Spark of Rebellion

1 x Haunting the Empire

1 x Honor Among Thieves

1x Along the Gamor Run

1x Sacrifice at Endor

DS (4-0-0)

2 x Empire's Elite

2 x Superior Numbers

1 x  Defending the Trench

1 x Cloud Cover

1 x Entrenched Defense

1 x Defense Protocol

1 x Dark Defenders

1 x Black Squadron Formation

Tim was running a Smug/Jedi variant and a classic Sith control deck which made good use of The Reawakening to kill Spark draws.

As Kiramode said at the cost of 2 resources. Now admittedly there is no combo there, just have 3 damage down and boom dead objective. But the pods are not that great, certainly at this stage in the lifecycle of the game.

There are other ways, like the event in the AT-AT set. It's a total troll move to play that in refresh and knock off 1-2 objectives so you can close out the game the next turn.

But both of these are events. They are one time thingsmand expensive. There are any number of free events you can use to trigger the Skyhopper. Yes it is a combo, but honestly you get down the card you have events. Brainiac or not you are still dealing automatic damage to objectives. It is your win condition. It sort of reminds me of Boushh but Boushh is limited enough that most of the ways to trigger him you can still play Star Wars on.

Skyhopper comes with a free recurring event. All you have to do it win the Force by 2. Um... okay, Jedi can do that. So play event and deal a damage. Get event back. Play event and deal a damage. That is a free, recurring, Rebel Assault. Combo yes but still really really not playing Star Wars.

Now I'm not saying the concept is bad. Just the lack of costs and restrictions. A recurring shield event should cost 1. Skyhopper should probably only be during the conflict phase. These would help. It would still be really good as combo's go but at least it would be at least a little more balanced.

I still have to play with it. I've only played against it. It's not fun to play against when it's rolling, but it might not be "perfect" enough to be the next Spark for example.

I won't say Running the Canyion is a bad pod, but the thing i don't understand is ... Why Jedi ? Why not Rebel ?

Running the canyon : buff for Speeder and Fighter => Should be Rebel

Luke's Skyhopper : Direct objective damages => Before this pack, was specific to rebel with Rebel Assault and Shield generator Assault and in another way Home One (Core) and Blue leader

Skyhopper : Small undercosted vehicule with good stats => Should be Rebel

Memories of Home : Recurring shields outside engagements => Rebel have Fleet Command Center and Fleeing the Empire, recurring shields is definetely a rebel thing

When is MTFBWY going to get an errata so that it is no longer an auto-include?!

You make valid points. I know DarthBS just made a Skyhopper/Capital Ship deck that feeds off of those additional shields. Thematically though, anything associated with that time of Luke's life tends to be Jedi-affiliated (kind of like Owen even though he's no Force User).

About every 3 months or so I get into a friendly argument with Jarratt about how Biggs Darklighter should be Jedi for the same reason (if we ever get him that is). That and there's not many Jedi pilots at all.

When is MTFBWY going to get an errata so that it is no longer an auto-include?!

Next year when it finally rotates out. That's also going to get create some major balance issues for the game since objectives like DLOTS are essentially explicit counters to MTF.

Except that we're only now getting to the 6th cycle, the Alliances Cycle. At the rate that force packs are being released--which looks they've switched to no less than two months between force packs--we won't get the first pack of the 8th cycle until June 2019 at the earliest.

I don't think they switched to anything. This game releases whenever the F they want.

I said this exact thing to some friends. It could have even been A-Wings or B-Wings which would have been cool.

I mean I guess they are running out of Jedi ideas.

Haha. I said they were running out of ideas, but there are still ideas out there. I'm not sure why they don't just introduce there own silly stuff from IA.

Would Republic be light side or dark side?

It's both, so are separatists. The game would make way more sense it it was Fringe, Military, Diplomacy, and Force Users/Jedi/Sith just fit into the types as needed. Vader is almost always Military, Palp is almost always Diplomacy. Yoda is Diplomacy, Obi-Wan is Fringe, Kanan is Military, Luke is most often Military.

Doing something like this (which is kind of what Destiny has done except they went for Force) means that stuff like Rebel Alliance, Resistance, First Order, Republic, CIS, Empire can all be traits or other identifiers.

LS loss was to an interesting Navy deck which got out 2 stormtrooper assault teams early.  Had a chance to slow play it but got overextended and he had too much blast on the board.

I don't miss a lot of things about Dallas but I do miss my friends in the Star Wars LCG community.
