Is there anything useful about this card? 3 cost - three icons and skill. And it dies if a day card enters play. It's not even immune to non-day card effects. If there is anything useful, I don't see it..

It's only going to be worth a look if your deck has abilities that depend on Night.  In that case, I'd consider it as a backup Night card if I felt I needed one (basically if it's better than the other prospective Night cards I have to choose from).  If you don't use Night then there'd be no reason to look at it.

 

It can also destroy an opponent's Day cards, which is about equally likely to being destroyed itself.

Until San Servolo came out in TiV, this was the only in-faction means for Hastur to make it Night.

 

On a tangent, you could combine it with Everlasting Night out of Cthulhu to make it cheaper, The Guardian to search for it, or returned from discard thanks to Unknown Kadath. Whilst they don't only apply to Messenger from Hali, no other Hastur character gets the same benefits.
