This Expansion is centered on Syndicate fraction bringin as always 165 new cards mostly "the thugs, hit men, con artists, crooked accountants, fall guys, and dirty tricks employed by the Syndicate, Arkham’s first name in organized crime." New "exhausting" cards, great The Clover Club and many many more good Syndicate stuff, check it out...

I am loving this expansion!

Sure, I may be a little biased as the Syndicate are my favorite faction. Plus I'm in hock to O'Bannion, and he said he'd have me knee-capped if I didn't post something nice about The Clover Club.

So, um, like, go for the drinks, stay for the Mythos weirdness. Sorry Shubs, no Mi-Go or Dark Young allowed.

Oh, I do believe they allow all kinds at the Clover Club just as long as they don't try to beat the house at the poker table...

Turf war - love it. Suddenly commiting single AO isn't that good of a move anymore :P
Can be used both offensively and defensively.

Yeah, Turf War looks like a really fun story trap. Even if Cat Burglar doesn't get to steal a card you're still getting to scout your opponent's deck which could be valuable - but then you'd have to pass up Crooked Attorney and it's hard to refuse getting Arcane.

This is a good point to mention that we will be spoiling another new card from Denizens of the Underworld on the next Elder Things podcast which we're working on right now :)

What do you think?

Ambush has the worst wording so far, but if I catch the spirit, it combines very well with Wentshukumishiteu (TKatG)

Ambush is worded well in my opinion, it correctly is using the 'play' and 'put into play' terms as described in the FAQ, right?

You can only play cards from your hand during the operation phase, following all restrictions. What is the point of the card, if you have to pay the normal cost and cannot bypass the phase restriction?
(maybe I am wrong: my mind is a bit blurry right now).

I love it! Except that you need to have all Syndicate faction cards... :(

I agree with Badash, this is good wording because it's clear you need to follow all play restrictions. It basically allows you to play a character outside of operations. And iirc, there is no response window at the end of phase, so I don't think you would get to trigger responses to something leaving play then. Under Response Opportunities, pg. 18: "NOTE: There can be no Response actions triggered to “end of phase” effects resolving." It is unclear to me if forced responses are included in this exception in the FAQ or not. Since they are treated as different everywhere else, though, I think you can trigger forced responses! Very cool! What other forced responses to leaving play are there?

But when it says "Play", you have to pay and to do it during your operation phase... cf. Corrupted Midwife (ER), haven't you? (Thanks for the p18 reminder)

BTW, the requirement to have only SYN cards is just for the passive effect of House Advantage.

Child of Argus (IT) and Wraith (TWB) are the only ones I found.

Thanks for that, had a brain-fart and applied the restriction to the entire ability. Very cool synergy!

In regards to playing, my thinking would be that Corrupted Midwife only works during operations because of the wording "as if it were in your hand." But then what's the point of Ambush if it doesn't let you play a character out of operations? Another poor wording, or do you think they'll open up the ruling to allow this?

Edit: Sorry Mzi, didn't see your ninja post above...

Sarnath = O bannion warehouse... Why neutral btw?

Additionally, this is really not in line with the theme, when you think about Bokrug's story.

Note that the wording of the card means that if you ready Sarnath and manage to exhaust it again, the previous lasting effects do not end, which is probably not intended... They should have used the term remain instead of be.

Yeah, Turf War stands out as one of my favorite spoiled cards from this set so far! It seems to have the full package; good art, classic title, evocative flavor text, stand alone play value and good potential for card synergy! I wouldn't pick Syndicate as my favorite faction but I have to acknowledge what seems like the outstanding flavor of this box!

Ambush, if my interpretation of 'Play' is correct seems to be quite worthless. Another miss by the designers?

I thought the theme of Sarnath was fine. The remnants of a cursed lost civilization that have a lasting negative effect on anyone that comes in contact with it? I guess it could have been a Cthulhu faction card?

Additionally, this is really not in line with the theme, when you think about Bokrug's story.
