The Cthulhu Night Online thread is your one-stop shop for online play news, players looking for match ups and general discussion.
What is Cthulhu Night Online?
The goal of Cthulhu Night Online is to help build the Call of Cthulhu LCG community with a regular gathering time to play the game. Players are invited to congregate in the lobbies of their preferred online play clients -- see below for more on clients -- make connections and most importantly, play more Call of Cthulhu.
Whem is Cthulhu Night Online?
Your Thursday night is Cthulhu Night Online. The Call of Cthulhu online player base is scattered across time zones, so in the beginning, make yourself available during your Thursday night. With time, we'll all figure out our own optimal times to be online, ready to play. You can also use this thread to help figure out what other players are in compatible time zones.
How can I play Call of Cthulhu online?
There are two primary clients for playing card games online: Lackey and OCTGN. OCTGN has a wider user base and more polished interface, but only runs on Windows and some features require subscription. Lackey runs on Windows, Macintosh and Linux, so it's more accessible and is completely free, but is rougher around the edges than OCTGN.
To use Lackey, download the client from http://lackeyccg.com/ and use its plugin installer tab to download the plugin maintained by Tragic at this URL: http://theblathering.../updatelist.txt (Edit: update to link to a brand new plugin designed by Tragic, with all Cthulhu LCG cards and CCG era story cards. 6/8/17)
To use OCTGN, download the client from http://www.octgn.net/ and follow these instructions to locate and download the Call of Cthulhu plugin: http://octgn.gamersj...talling-games/.

It's short notice for the first Thursday Cthulhu Night Online, but I plan to be on Lackey. Hope to see some folks there!

I should be able to play on Lackey some Thursday nights within the 9pm-11pm EST timeframe. I have a pretty busy schedule and am very new to CoC, though.

I'll try to be on OCTGN as close to every day as I can. I'll definitely make a point to be there on Thursdays though. Gotta get that practice in for the first round of tournaments!

As a West Coaster with Thursday commitments until late, I can only anticipate the post-session reviews with interest.

1. Download Lackey.
2. Right-click the file you downloaded, extract it. Note to where the file is extracted.
3. Open the Lackey directory that was created. Double-click the LackeyCCG application icon.
4. After clicking through the pop-up message about pop-up messages, go to the plugin tab.
5. Paste the plugin URL (http://dl.dropboxuse.../updatelist.txt, right-click to copy the whole link, not just what the forum software truncates it to) into the autoupdate URL field. Click the install button.
6. When the plugin finishes installing, it'll ask to load the plugin. Agree.
7. Use the deck editor tab to build a deck (Cardgamedb.com exports are not currently compatible).
8. Go to the server tab, where it will ask you to choose a name, etc. Click to a different tab, then back to server. You should see the button to connect. Click that.

I've got a beer in hand, a deck to try out and am hanging in the Lackey server lobby, should someone wish to play this evening.

Can't get the damn thing working on my Mac. Can't say I've tried exceptionally hard.
Nevertheless, best of luck to those putting it together. Hope you have a good turnout and a lot of fun.

Word on the street is OCTGN's gone all pear-shaped tonight. Lackey's working fine, though!

Yes. The Great Cthulhu is not happy with you mere mortals who aren't playing for his adulation online and has sent a Hound of Tindalos to attack the OCTGN servers. It's extremely sketchy but you can manage to get on with perseverance. Lackey though is running fine.

Someone launching a DDOD attack on their DNS server screwed everyone over. But same result. And if by everyone you meant no-one then you'd be right about that because I'm on there atm. Lackey still up WasteMaLife. Why aren't you on it? haha.

Not yet. OCTGN does. There doesn't appear to be anyone looking after Lackey at the moment.

PlasticXO is currently looking after Lackey. I'm pretty sure he just didn't get any scans, yet. Here in Europe the first Denizen sets became available just yesterday. Not yet. OCTGN does. There doesn't appear to be anyone looking after Lackey at the moment.

I hopped on, albeit it rather late in my time zone, and updated OCTGN and started a game. I waited for a while then tried to update Lackey as well. While I was doing that, someone hopped into the OCTGN game, but I missed it! (Sorry anemone, if you're reading this!) By then it was too late to try to start a full game since I had work. But I will definitely try to get on in the future..perhaps even tonight. Let's keep this up so that eventually we'll create a watershed.
