yes someone spoiled it before and the forum was shut down so I would recommend deleting this thread.

awesome... I think a lot of people were hoping for a 40K LCG... but we will have to see how this develops.. if at all.

What has been seen cannot be unseen.
That is a major cat out of the bag. The line-up of 'new' products (rather than addons) from FFG is pretty weak at the moment so this kind of spoil can't hurt them. I think they are long overdue announcing something worth looking forward too.
As far as it being the next LCG goes (if it is) I'm OK with it. I have a slew of titles i would rather it have been but 40K is a decent background to work off. If its mechanically sound then I'll be taking a peek.

If it doesn't play anything like the other Warhammer game then I might give it a look. The other one was a big stinker!

Provided it doesn't use any dumb ass pod system I will play this. I'm not a huge fan of the 40K setting but it could be a lot worse.

Bad theme for me, and in my experience it's hard to get 40K players to try anything else for more than a month or two so I'm not sure it will be worth much in crossover draw. We'll see though.
I wish I *could* unsee this, then I could still hope for a better theme.

I love 40K but hate to pay for the miniature game so this is perfect for me.

Alright, working on getting over my initial dislike of the theme - can anyone point me to a website that has a good overview of who the 40K factions are? Not their minis game play styles, but what the actual races are and their personalities (if any)?
Also, which are considered the "main" factions? I'm assuming this may end up like WH:I where there are too many factions in the minis game for all of them to be factions in the card game so I'm wondering who's likely to make the cut.
And finally, I hope that FFG post an official announcement with some better information on the game and mechanics soon...

All of the factions are pretty equal really but some get more of the spotlight than others. Space Marines are of course the biggest example as they are in every starter box ever made for the game and one of the oldest factions.

Thanks, will read through those. I figured Space Marines were definitely a lock for a faction in the card game, but I know little of the other factions beyond knowing a few names like Eldar and Tau.

Anyway, looking at those pages the situation doesn't seem as bad as WH:I.
You've got Humans, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau, Necrons, Orks, Tyranids, and Chaos. That's 8 factions if you limit 1 per each. Now, in the tabletop game there's more than one Human faction so you'll tick off Imperial Guard players and whoever but *something* has to be cut. Chaos also appears like it's got more than one faction but again, you just have to live with it. Anyway, 8 factions seems doable. They can always add in other "chapters" through Agenda/Identity/whatever cards later too.

I feel like once a week I ask why FFG doesn't make a good 40K LCG. It looks like there is a dial (sigh) and a cardboard standee (say wha?) in the spoiled image but I am so ready for this. I can see Tau and Space Marines in the cards looks like maybe da Greenskins too.

You gave up on pods too soon! They're amazing!

It's not an LCG.
The box says "card game" not "living card game", the design doesn't match the other LCG boxes (cthulhu was just given a facelift to match this standard).
It says "a game for 2 players" and looks like a small size box FFG use for expansions.
Warhammer got diskwars, 40k gets conquest.

It's got the LCG symbol in the bottom corner.
And Star Wars is called card game, not living card game.

none of them actually are called the living card game. its call of cthulhu the card game, game of thrones the card game, etx.
