I didn't see much about the economy either.
I guess I have a lot of questions. I hope FFG puts out one of their very nice video series on this in the near (grimdark) future

There's always expansions people. This is just one release.
Yay it's official!
Looking at the alliance wheel thingy it's pretty plain to see that they aren't going to have Tyranids and Necrons as main factions, even if they get a future release. I don't want them as neutral. If I can't use them as my main faction, that's a deal breaker!

O a competitive level though I guess these base set of planets will have to be used consistently as themed packs would unbalance I seeing as planets aren't selected like pods. Unless it revolves around both players putting 5 planets each and then a flop of 5 happens which then could have a varied impact on the game, with certain planets favouring certain races.
Very exciting.

There are a few things in the spoiler that worry me...
1) It seams you can only attack 1 planet at a time? Am I reading this right?
2) You seam to gain resource and card draw and things from winning planets... this sounds like a system ripe for run away leader syndrome. Like if you are winning planets you are in the lead, if you are in the lead you have more resources and card draw so you get further ahead, witch wins you more planets .. etc
Think force struggles from SW, but before the combat step. Controlling other planets garners resources to help the supply flow for first planet fighting.
And tyranids will make an appearance, so Chilllllllll WinsTon.
It'd be neat to see them as a neutral disruptive trap to screw with the command struggles. Or they can just open up the wheel, put them in the center of the wheel.. whatever really clicks with their current zerg theme. And Necrons will probably show up to expand the wheel, too.
Seven factions is a lot, and with the deckbuilding mechanics, this game can go nuts! I just hope they have decent prize support coming...

for anyone thinking they won't get their precious tyranids or necrons, they will be added %100 guaranteed. thats what deluxe expansions and cycle packs are for. look at star wars LCG. even though smugglers and spies and scum and villainy were affiliations in the game at release, there was but 1 objective set of each in the core release.

This is literally the most excited and positive I have ever seen you when referring to a LCG. Keep at it!!

The difference being that smugglers and scum were IN the basic game design. The PoDs might not have show up until latter but the faction was there... there are no factions for Necrons and Tyrinids. So it is far from certain.
In Warhammer : Invasion they introduced 2 new factions as part of the 1st delux expansion so there is precedence.. but in Warhammer : Invasion popular factions were simply never introduced, or only in as lame neutral cards. So it is all up in the air. Necrons are basically Tomb Kings and they never made it into W:I for example.
While I think it is likely we will see Tyrinids.. it is just as likely we won't. Necrons ... I dunno.. A interesting fact... there are no Necrons in ANY of the FFG products, could there be a license issue as this is a newer army (but this has Tau.. ?) Also the only Tyrinids are in Death Angle as far as I can see.

Invasion came boxed with HE and DE cards, and the expansions each featured new cards for both factions before the deluxe expansion released. I would argue that mechanically, neutral cards were better as there was no loyalty cost.

Good point. IMHO the resource system is a big part of what separates great games from merely good ones. I guess we'll have to wait for the next article to hear more about that.
