So, I'm normally not one to play 'alternative' strategies in card games. Thought I would try to build an Undead deck, and below is what I came up with. A couple of questions follow, seeking clarification and suggestions.
  • Count Vlad Von Carstein (HK #28) x3
  • Blooddrinker (HK #34) x3
  • Contested Village (Core #111) x2
  • Corpse Cart (MotD #51) x3
  • Numberless Graves (MotD #50) x2
  • Warpstone Excavation (Core #116) x2
  • Danse Macabre (SitS #80) x2
  • Invocation of Nehek (HK #35) x3
  • Lying in Wait (TRH #100) x3
  • Muster for War (DoB #20) x3
  • Abyssal Terror (HK #29) x3
  • Cackling Hexwraith (HK #32) x3
  • Crypt Ghouls (MotD #43) x3
  • Lord of the Dead (HK #30) x3
  • Restless Corpse (TRH #99) x3
  • Skeletal Horde (MotD #44) x3
  • Swarm of Bats (L #52) x3
  • Wight Lord (MotD #48) x3
Thoughts:
  • The key will be to get Count Vlad out with Blooddrinker, while draining my deck (with cards like Swarm of Bats, Corpse Cart, and Invocation of Nehek, and lesser quantities from other cards) before the opponent has a chance to mount a challenge.
  • Abyssal Terror has the potential to become HUGE, and can quickly be brought into play free from the graveyard via Lord of the Dead (yes, I'm aware it'll only live for one attack), while Danse Macabre and Wight Lord will help decimate an opponent's force.
Questions:
  • Warpstone Excavation - is a corrupted unit's abilities void? e.g. if I bring in Lord of the Dead, I won't be able to bring another unit into play? And is this (corrupting units) a feature for all Warpstones, even if the wording isn't shown in the text? I'm trying to make sense of the whole Warpstone thing.
  • When drawing cards, is it "must" or "may" when it comes to drawing cards equal to the power icons in my quest zone?
  • If my deck runs out does that mean I lose the game (i.e. if I still have Count Vlad out and cards in my hand)?
  • Depending on answers to 2 and 3, I may have to be patient early on and not play too many icons in the Quest zone, as Count Vlad (central to the add two to my draws. Will need to empty my hand at the right time (playing developments, and 0 & 1 cost tactics and supports) then let rip with Corpse Cart.
Any suggestions? I haven't played this one yet - it's all theory at the moment.

On review, I note the Legend can be played from the graveyard. Which makes Blooddrinker irrelevant. Keen to get suggestions for improvements, especially low cost / quick play cards that would be a nice combo with the rest.
