So the only icon not "solved" is the little yellow thing on this card above the faction icon.

Posted Image

And the icons at the top of the planet cards.

The character card one might be "shields" which was briefly mentioned in the article (can discard to prevent damage): "A host of special abilities, keywords, and event cards allow both players to modify combat. In addition, attacks can be shielded by discarding a card with shield icons from your hand to reduce the damage dealt to your unit."

The icons at the top of planets are what you have to match 3 of to win via conquering stuff: "Each planet possesses one or more symbols in the upper left-hand corner, identifying that planet’s strategic value, whether military, economic, or technological...These symbols have no inherent abilities, but the first player to conquer three planets that share a common symbol claims dominion of the sector and wins the game!"

I am of the opinion it will be 2 cards per deck... .

I think the small icon above the faction icon indicates either that the card is loyal (can't be taken as an ally) or is part of a signature squad -- notice that both of the cards in Cato's signature squad we can see have this icon.

The icons on the planet cards are the planet's assets. "Material" (red?), "Strongpoint" (green?), and "Tech" (blue?). You need to collect 3 of any one color by conquering planets in order to win the game.

"These symbols grant no abilities by themselves, but the first player to collect three planets sharing a common symbol dominates the sector and wins the game."

I think the numbers on the right indicate a signature squad. "006 05/09" = pod 6 card 5 of 9 where card 1 would be the warlord.

Looking forward to this. The card presentation is excellent and the theme itself is pretty cool.

The excuse I needed to drop Netrunner is here.

What I wanna know is how many tokens will be used in this game. We all know how much FFG loves them some tokens.

Looks like 4. Skulls would be the damage, the gear looking thing is likely the "money". Not sure about the Aquila and the green holoprojector planet.

Alright, i'm sold on this for a few specific reasons.

1. Whenever i talk about what would make SW perfect i always go back to the identities in netrunner, here we have identities (easy to add new ones in each cycle) then we have a dynamic battlefield with a splash of bluffing with where your hero's go.

2. As a 40k/GW expatriate (just to expensive) i think this is a fantastic way to re-engage the IP that i loved as a child. I cant wait till we get the Biel-Tan craftworld.

3. Questions i had after the preview- How do you determine Initiative, after a planet/zone is captured do you add another card to the lineup? Is the planet deck static or is it random each game? very excited.

It looks like it is similar to CoC in that the deck is static but the planets you see each game are random.

Thanks for posting all this. Getting excited about this game!

I'm liking the faction wheel as a solution to the whole alliances thing. They really should have thought of that for the tabletop wargame.

That's what I'm guessing too, that it's similar to Cthulhu story cards. In that game there is a deck of story cards to fight over but they are randomized each game and three are out at a time. When one is won, it is replaced with a new card. Presumably if you win a planet then the remaining ones will "slide down" and a new one enters on the right? This will let each one get a turn at being "First Planet".

Also in Cthulhu every few years they release a new set of story cards that replaces the earlier set. So we might see that happen with planet cards too.

as this character has the weird numbers on the side think that is the way of showing it is part of a warlords squad.

Gencon is still 5 months out, that's quite a lot of time so I expect they will at *least* be demoing the game there and most likely be selling it as well.

Looks like the lines will even longer at the FFG booth now.

Do we know if a planet leaves play when it is conquered or if it can be contested again?

If it is like a Cthulhu story card (as we suspect), once someone wins it it goes into their victory pile and is no longer in play.

The design of this game is very interesting. Eric Lang has said in the past that he likes fusing Euro-style and Ameri-trash design. This really feels like that to me. It almost feels like a worker placement game with combat. I'm looking forward to finding out more about this.

I wonder what the "hammers" mean, some units have 1 some have 2. I think that little icon over the faction symbol means its part of the "squad" as some more generic previewed units dont have it.

Well i hope we see it sooner rather then later. It would be nice if it was already incorporated @ worlds.

It was conjectured earlier in the thread that these are for the command struggle where you compete over the planet's resources. However, nothing is really confirmed yet.
