They have a lot of games, and not many days. Yes, there will be a lot of conflicts. That does not necessarily mean that FFG is out to personally screw you over, it's just how it is.
And yes, I'm expecting to be royally hosed at Gencon as well. If I manage to go to Worlds, then I'll be hosed twice. It's pretty much guaranteed, the best thing you can do is start ranking your games in priority order ahead of time so that when it happens you'll know which one to go with.
