Every card drafted at Worlds was a reprint, using the exact same template as the original cards. As far as I could tell, there was not even any errata.

I'm hoping these will get a few more people into CoC, especially at my local store.

Well me and the store owner were hoping to run a Cthulhu night sometime in the near future. Between Eldritch Horror, Arkham Horror, Eldar Sign, Cthulhu RPG and the LCG we are set to have a cracking night. Now, instead of me loaning out all my cards for people we can hold a draft event instead of a mini tournament.

BTW, hope you had a great birthday. :)

I'm definitely intrigued by this prospect, and excited by the idea that it can bring in more players.

lets also point out how great for the game this is! they were willing to make a draft set (which is probably a lot more work then would think to have the balance down) for a game with a small community

I would be a lot more enthused to support this new format if other (1 or 2) unique draft only cards were included and or unique full length art cards. I know some opinion on this will vary but it just comes down to my limited resources of time and money. I barely have enough time to give to the standard game with competitive play and local leagues not to mention any other gaming I'd like to engage in! FFG will really have to make this worth my while!

I'm curious to give drafting a try, but I'm mindful of the local Netrunner scene's trial of the format. I think the local venue had one, maybe two, draft events and it was not well received.

Maybe part of it was the draft itself wasn't very fun for the players. As I heard it, they split into two groups to draft. One got lots of money cards and the other got practically none. I know them's the breaks in drafting, but can also understand why they might shy away after that.

CoC does work perfect for draft though. Since any card is resource your not all fighting over money cards.

I love drafting, but I have zero interest in buying packs of disposable cards.. all of which I already own. FFG should run as a customer service a CUBE for each LCG that players can make on their own form the pools they already own.

Stimehack run a unofficial ANR cube that is awesome and I would love to make a CoC one.. but just haven't had a chance as I can not play test it. (as I do not know anyone in real life that plays the game).

Maybe once people work out what the entire "necronomicon pool" is I can add the drafting packs to LackeyCCG... Dose OCTGN have drafting? Probably not.. man that app sucks!

Of course, I haven't read the draft rules yet, so maybe I'm misunderstanding.

But where I see the FFG webpage say each player needs one Draft Starter and one Draft Pack, it seems like that's it, period. The draft process will mix people's Draft Packs together, and then, win or lose, you walk away from the game with a new pack: the one you drafted! The only reason to buy a new draft pack is if a series of bad drafts degraded your original one into an incapable-of-winning state of decay. Draft play wouldn't be about getting all 240 cards. That's the regular LCG constructed-deck approach.

Now, in competitive draft, sure. Everybody would have to start with a fresh draft pack. And I'm sure FFG would be happy for players to buy a new draft pack every week, just for casual draft play. But that's now how I envision playing it.

When A Game of Thrones draft came out we ran a draft league, and to keep the costs down we decided to re-use our draft packs each week and randomly distribute them. Some weeks we'd have a new player join in, so that would also add a new pack in to the mix. One thing we did have to do though was to individually number all the cards (just writing on the top front of the cards themselves was easier than keeping a list, but at the cost of defacing the cards) so that they could be put back in order afterwards - as we had the impression that the distribution order mattered. Not sure if it will be the same for Cthulhu Necronomicon, but with AGoT draft you would take 10 cards at a time and draft that block, then the next 10... so instead of numbering them all from A1 to A50 (pack A), B1 to B50 (pack B), etc. we could just number all 10 cards in the first block as A1, B1, etc. through to the fifth block as A5, B5, etc. to make it even easier.

well this is kinda my point... if you're just going to do that.. why not build a cube. What you have effectively done is create a cube from a random subset of the official draft pool.

I like your cube idea, Tragic, but here FFG have done all the work for you, and you can readily add to the cube by adding in additional draft packs.
