"The Thousand Young is the ninth deluxe expansion for Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game, adding tremendous new depth to the game's Shub-Niggurath faction. Its 165 cards (three copies each of 55 different cards) explore the All-Mother's insidious influence within the darkest bayous and sticky summer nights of Louisiana. Cultists, Ghouls, and Dark Young all prowl the Big Easy, but they're not the only sources of darkness. Nyarlathotep's many Avatars play a deep and complicated game, manipulating human agencies as well as the Ancient Ones and their cults."

This avatars thing sounds interesting...  wonder if that means an assortment of neutral cards, a new game mechanic, or a new subtype spread amongst several factions...

This was the boxed set I was looking forward to the least, but now with the Nyarlathotep Avatars I'm definitely interested.  I wonder if they're drawing on the same concept as from the CCG era?  The various Avatars and Masks of Nyarlathotep was one of my favorite aspects of the black-border cards.

There was a classic Call of Cthulhu RPG module (Masks of Nyarlathotep) all about confronting various Avatars of Nyarlathotep too, so it may draw some inspiration from that.  Either way, it sounds like a cool theme.

So after this I'm expecting a third general. Which would  be really interesting, because then there would be three deluxe general sets making a much more attractive entry point for new players, I think, than the Core Set. The Core Set then could be for the... hard core

I would hope that Hastur would be after the general. I was disappointed to hear that Shub and Cthulhu were going to get the deluxe treatment before Hastur, since those factions were all ready pretty strong anyway  <_<

I would expect Hastur to come first and finish out the factions before putting out the next general-purpose box.

No mention of Mi-Go has me worried.  I want at least one more (the Agency one looks great, but I can never have too many).

+1! The Avatars/Masks of Nyarlathotep of the CCG are definitely something I'd like to see in the LCG. It's one of the coolest themes they haven't re-introduced yet.

How come a random shop knows about this before it's in the FFG news, though?

It's because of the dock workers strike in America.
The ffg website is based around when products arrive in America and right now there is a couple of weeks delay.

Gates of arkham was available in the UK 2 weeks before America and ffg held back their preview articles for this game, I had the game in hand while ffg were releasing new previews.

Greater good has been on the boat for just over 8 weeks, the length of time it usually takes to be available in a store. I expect it to arrive any day now, unless you live in the USA, which means a preview of the next box is due. I suspect that stores were told in advance about the next box and when to start allowing pre-orders before this delay was taken into account, that's why it's appeared on multiple online stores before FFG have posted an article.

Actually, it's a direct copy paste from the Canadian distributor.

We know that. The speculation is about why is it available to pre-order when the product is yet to be announced on the FFG website.

It's not the first time that the distributor posts things before FFG makes an announcement.

Too funny.  "The Voice on the Phone, The New Boss" is exactly the Nyarlathotep avatar I was thinking of when I read The Thousand Young preview. I'm also hoping we get something like the "The Man, Unknown Quantity" for Agency.  These avatars give a nice, creepy feel to both those factions.
