Hey,
Got a question about time limit in tournament.

Scoring

Players earn tournament points at the end of each game as follows. These points are used to determine the winner of the tournament, or, in the case of a larger event, they are used to determine who makes the cut to the championship elimination rounds.
Match Win = 5 points Modified Match Win = 4 points Draw = 2 points Modified Match Loss = 1 Match Loss = 0 points
If a player meets his deck’s victory condition before the time limit has been reached, that player earns a match win and his opponent receives a match loss.

Time Limit Procedure

If the time limit has been reached, the players continue the game through the end of the current game round and then compare the planet cards in their victory displays to determine a modified match winner. The player with the most total planets in his victory display earns a modified match win, and his opponent receives a modified match loss. If both players have the same number of planet cards in their victory displays, they compare the total number of planet type symbols in their victory displays. The player with the most total planet type symbols in his victory display earns a modified match win, and his opponent receives a modified match loss. If the players are tied on the total number of planets and also tied on the total number of planet type symbols in their victory displays, the match is scored as a draw for both players. If this occurs in an elimination-round, another game round is played, until one player breaks the tie. The final game in the championship brackets is untimed.

So if the time if out. Both players must end the round then apply the Time Limit Procedure to say who win the Modified Match Win.

But if during this round one player reach his victory conditions (3 same icons or warlord kill), according to this rule he would not win the game.

But in the rule of the game it is written :

Each round, a battle is fought at the planet designated by the first planet token to determine which player adds that planet to his victory display. A victory display is an out of play area in front of a player that is used to collect the planets he has won. A player immediately wins the game if he has 3 planets in his victory display that share a common type.

and the same with instant loss for death of warlord or decking issue.

So wich rule goes over the other ?

The logic would say that instant win or loss is over that time limit procedure.

But then, the winner (ie : killing warlord after time limit) would get 5 points or 4 ?

Quite a odd thought but imagine this would change for you to get over the cut to go in top of worlds... :)

How can you kill a warlord after the time limit?

edit: wait, think I get what you're getting at...

Basically when you hit the time limit, you get to play till the end of the current game round before time is really up.

If you win before you reach the end of the current game round (either by icons, or kill, or whatever) then that's a proper win. If not, you then use the procedure to determine who has the modified win.

Its clumsy language, but essentially any win condition is going to happen before the current game round ends, so you never reach the "then" portion of the above paragraph.

Look at it this way: The time limit procedure tells you to continue the game to the end of the current round, and once you reach the end of the round, you go through the process of determining the modified win/loss. But the game stops immediately if someone reaches a full win condition. Therefore, if someone achieves a win condition while "continuing to the end of the current round" after time has been called, the players never actually reach the end of the round, so the process for determining modified win/loss is never actually invoked.
