In a story as large a scale as Star Wars it is very difficult to avoid such inspiration. Not necessarily a bad thing as this very worlds history has some fantastic stories which can be retold to a newer audience. Palpatine and the senate was definitely influenced by the Roman culture, and why the hell not as it is an incredibly interesting period in history.

Back on target though, I think the game occasionally suffers from a saturation of the LCG market. Between 6 LCG and Doomtown, and the possibility of Vs making a comeback there are just too many options and maintaining large groups for every game is simply impossible. I would love to play Doomtown but my wallet can only take so much strain (along with the missus). Keeping up with 3 games is already a nightmare and I would assume most gamers have a similar viewpoint. Crikey, if I didn't have a job and had a couple of million in the bank I would probably play all the games all the time but the likelihood of that happening anytime soon is pretty slim. :(

What exactly is Doomtown? I've heard people on here mention it a lot.

And yeah, oversaturation makes sense. The new AGOT is just replacing the old one, so it won't technically lead to an increase in numbers, but still...

It's a Weird West game. Cowboys, undead, gadgets, sorcery etc all mashed together in one of the coolest settings ever made. Mechanically it uses a twisted form of poker for combat and various shenanigans. I honestly think it has some of the best deckbuilding I have ever seen in a card game but it has the potential to fry your brain in the process.

Doom town is this sci-fi western lcg... where you fight using hands of poker. ..

It's ok... I've only played core which could be as misleading as swlcg core but from what I played it was horrible

I've played Doomtown Reloaded since it came out and it's a great game.  Being an ex-poker player I really enjoy not only the Wild West theme of the game but how you build decks.

Basically, Spades are Dudes (both male and female) and are your characters.

Diamonds are deads or resource generators.

Hearts are goods and spells ie attachments

Clubs are your event cards or instants to use MTG terminology.

You build decks around these four suits (clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades) and they all have a numerical value with Aces being low up to Kings being the hightest.  When you have shootouts you basically draw cards from you deck and compare ranks from King high being the lowest to a Royal Flush being the highest with causalties ie when a player's dude gets shot depending on how far apart the hand ranks are.  The game is fun because you can go through your deck and recycle it over and over again.

Personally I have 4 LCGs that I currently play

Conquest

Netrunner

Doomtown

SWLCG

This pretty much maxes me out on games I have the time and money to play and invest in at the moment, though, SW is probably the last on my list of games that I like to play currently.   I also like Marvel Dicemasters but it only has a small player base.

2x rancor, 2x gotds, 2x zekka, 2 x wittin, 2 x xzior optional 1 executor. Did alright some resource issues clear clear and clear some more. Too beat Jedi you just need a way to stall the ls de will win in time. I see rebels being the issue with the new cycle. 15 blast is not that hard to get with rebels

You can't affiliate that deck as Sith, and that's a little problematic on top of the lack of any good resources at all.
