My new plan to actually enjoy playing the game is to play LS civil war. What is the point of even trying to make DS work at this point. I really am afraid that the developers have ruined the game with sets like this.

Its ok guys... don't worry. This is balanced by the fact that it now gives jedi a way to avoid Desperation! So now rebels won't devastate them as much....

I guess they are planning on banning MTFBWY and journey through the swamp, that is the only possible explanation for this set being released into the current environment

I love the art on the undercover urchin card. I hate that undercover urchin card. I'm glad there are two of the enhancements though. It lessens the set a bit.

Can't think of to many first turn 3 drops for the Darkside I'd want to drop.

That being said could be issues with freeholder territory. Possibly.

EDIT Jedi only we are safe from that hell.

Okay, in thrones there was a character that worked exactly like the urchin does, Street Waif, and it got restricted almost immediately. That is the real card to be wary of out of this set. However, the rest is pretty crazy too.image.jpg

They did a preview of the final jedi pod from the last pack.

Luke SkyWalker - 2cost, 5 hitpoints, 5 black blast Reaction: If objective leaves play you may destroy target enemy object in play

Yoda - 0 Cost, 8 hit points, 10 black tactics, Shielding, Protect Action: Pay one Jedi resource to return this card from your discard pile and put into play

Emperor Palpatine - Cost 6 - 2 black tactics, 1 edge enabled tactics 2 blast, Interrupt: if this unit would leave play , instead it becomes an enhancement with the text "when an enemy unit is deployed put 5 focus tokens on it

Yoda's Condo : Enhancement - 2 cost - 10 resources - While in play adds 10 to the force struggle. During your refresh remove any number of focus tokens from this enhancement and place them on any number of target units

YAHOOOOO! You're all clear, kid: Event - 10 cost Destroy 3 enemy objectives in play. If this card is played before the death star dial is at 6, you may rip up one card in your opponents discard pile

This pod is ridiculously strong.  Jedi has counters to Sith control and Tie swarm deck with just 6 cards.  I am surprised there isn't a card to deal with capture decks too.  smh

This objective is certainly annoying to the DS if it shows up first.  However, it's not like the LS could deploy tons of cards in response to DS only deploying 1 card.  The  LS is affected by the objective's ability too.   The fact there are 2 of the enhancement card seems more troublesome.

And here I thought we were moderating our tone towards FFG.

I think the key difference is the number of cards in the discard pile and the quality - quick cycling through cards with edge etc and having pods where you don't want everything in it means you're less likely to get back really groovy cards. Still has thew potential to be annoying and really good, just less likely unless you're getting it out early.

No need to be snarky. Being frustrated and venting about design decisions that fly in the face of all the current balance issues is not having a poor tone. Its much different to reply to an FFG rep and complain they aren't doing enough and/or call them liars as has happened in other threads.

I'd say this exact same thing to Eric Lang if I see him at BGG con this year. Its gotten out of control.

im not too sure about that. It has a pip - and it stops your mains from being force lightning'd and choked directly..and deadly sited...and protects jedi characters in rebel decks from desperation

Yoda, you seek Yoda gets around the objective, as does vima.

Edit: correct magpieman, life creates it gets around it as well. Play units and then use put into play effects to get more units bypassing hidden from the empire.

Yeah I don't think the urchin will be that powerful, after 1 turn or 2 your likely to have 6+ cards in your discard and they will just give you bad cards.

I think I agree with Yodaman on this, against Imps or Scum it won't matter much, but if the sith have got a couple of sith lords and 2 extras out, Jedi won't be able to flood the board with Jubbas or Ewoks or X-wings.

EDIT: To clarify, it'll hurt scum and Imperials, but against Sith could end up hurting Jedi as much, if not more.

2nd Edit: Reading what Boba says, won't stop life creates it (?), so maybe not jubbas that much

Like Troopers and TIEs needed any direct counters....  TIEs were at least up and coming, while Troopers stalled out a bit before the finish line.  With this around, I have zero interest in picking them up again, which makes me sad.

In a meta where unblockables still show up, this set just totally hoses the DS.  What do you mulligan for?  Keep the big main in case Hidden from the Empire is in your opponents flop?  Keep the pair of two drops in case you're going to see unblockables?  Well, now it seems you have to mulligan to see both.

And beyond what opening hand you keep, this objective just seriously messes with the DS's first two turns.  First turn, they are only allowed one unit.  Second turn, maybe they get two more.  Then they get the chance to try and turn it off.  But if the LS is working on the slow build, they most likely have a pair of blockers.  Or, if they don't block, now the DS only has two blockers vs a LS board that is at least two, but more likely four or five.  This just super slows down the game in the LS's favor.

On a (small) positive note, Jabba's stock just went up. :-/

I don't think are enough put into play effects for the LS to drastically pull ahead on units with this objective out, DS plays 1 first turn, LS plays 2, DS plays a 3rd etc.

The chud probably hurts with the objective out, as you're playing a useless (combat) unit, and giving them now another potential main for them to play down. End situation could easily end up with just 3 mains on either side, dressed to the nines. Force choke won't work on them now, but Vader's reaction still will, Aggression still will, Force Storm still will.
