Your opinion is wrong. *I just don't like seeing people disappointed.*

You disappointed me in how long you took to reply.

Also holy crap how did this go from "I love this game..."  to arguments about the prequels and eu and people's personal opinions of what is good and bad?

Ive spent most of this thread defending the prequel era - but i cant deny that the prequels left a stench on our franchise that we are only now beginning to recover from.

Its the likes of Dave Filoni, FFG and Disney that have really revived Star Wars and built it into a respectable franchise again.

Tierdal - I'm not ashamed to say I join your minority opinion about the prequels.    I've learned over the years though that I'm better off not debating with others about it on threads though since it's a hot button topic.

Hehe - nothing to be ashamed about. The way that Filoni and crew repaired the mess Lucas left us is nothing short of remarkable. And the way they are litering rebels with clone wars sprinklings (but not heavy handedly) is really awesome and is connecting the two time periods in awesome ways.

The future is bright my friends :)

I also don't hate the prequels(I like episode 2 and 3) TPM is not good but it's still Star Wars.

TPM is actually way more Star Wars than 2&3. 2 is like a weird CSI/hard boiled detective story that devolves into a massive battle at the end of the film. 3 is basically just a war story and a rather depression and unearned descent into the darkside.

Episode 1 is still a cliffhanger style pulp saga just like the originals. It has a little bit too much out of the frying pan into the fire style antics going on, especially in the opening with the negotiations into the forest into the gungan city into the underwater journey and bigger fish.

It settles down after that. And the issues become That most people hate Jar Jar, most people hate baby Anakin and most people hate Midichlorians.

The final battle probably has 2 much going on. It's fought in 4 arenas and no one cares about the space battle because it's just Anakin being lucky. If Anakin was like 14-15 spent some time learning ships systems on the flight to Coruscant and was basically a natural pilot and was awesome (because we know he is) and less yippie then I think we could have got behind it.

Same goes for the gungan battle. It's actually kind of awesome except that it's just Jar Jar being Jar Jar. Again if Jar wasn't a slapstick character then maybe we could get behind this.

The duel of the fates on the other hand is is fantastic.

The big problem with this battle is that unlike Return of the Jedi (3 arenas of battle which is still probably too much) they don't tie in together. The Lightsaber duel should be the metaphor for the flow of the battles in the other arenas. Whoever has dominance in the duel should give the upper hand to the side in the land and city battle. Anakin should be the wild card, his natural affinity for the force should be what sways the battle down below. When Maul has the upper hand and all looks lost, Anakin destroys the station and shuts down the droids. The balance shifts suddenly to the light side and obi wan wins the duel.

Also Maul shouldn't be killed. He should be taken prisoner.

So this stuff is sort of there but not really. It's just not executed that well.

Personally I just think the entire story would have been better and more believable if Anakin was like 15, around the same age as Padme. Then he would feel like a total creeper in the 2nd and 3rd movies.

The Clone Wars does a much better job of selling the relationship between Anakin and Padme.

So yeah Menace is massively flawed has some super cringeworthy moments in it and has some character that we really just want to despise. But it's also kind of fun.

It's not the movie I wanted and in the cinema I felt that each instalment got better but as time goes on I realise that none of these films are what I wanted from that story at all and really that none of them are really any better or worse than the others.

Maul wasn't killed ;)

Okay sure but so far that has been the worst part of the Clone Wars for me. I thought it would be good but it was so so terrible. I just hated what they did with the character.

I haven't seen the stuff in season 5 but the stuff in season 4 left me truly disappointed.

Regardless bringing him back for the clone wars is not the same as having this menacing threat throughout the original trilogy.

In many ways I feel that they got Palp and Maul wrong. Maul should have been the master fuelled by hatred to destroy all Jedi. And Palp the schemer would have been always looking for a way to destroy his master and become the Sith Master and subsequently the Emperor. I feel like Palps rise was just a political one. His rise in the Sith happened before the films even started. I personally think this was a misstep. Especially because he was like the best thing in the prequels.

Thats actually a cool idea Jarret..

The other missed oportunity was the anakin/obi bond...its so forced =/  They wasted a whole movie with him as a kid.

It didn't even make sense that he was "TOO OLD" when he was a frigin toddler , barely older than those other kids.

He shoulda been 15-16 like luke - a prodigy...

Ironically this thread has inspired me to rewatch the prequels, to see if they're as bad as I remembered. Palpatine is the bomb, and I enjoyed Obi too. The tech is really cool too. The rest fell really flat, especially the quality of acting. Compared to the OT, there's a distinct lack of compelling characters or development arcs.

all the fun of the prequels - and education too !

But ya... Obi killed it (espeically in ep 3). Palp SUPER kills it...ian is amazing.

Frank Oz rocks as yoda.

Hayden and padme are painful to watch and everyone else is just dead and lifeless thanks to green screens and terrible directing

Should have known you were a red letter media fan. That explains a lot. It's a good litmus test for whether you can safely ignore someone's opinion though

The problems with the prequels are...

1:  Bad script/directing

2:  Horrible acting

3:  Too much CGI
