Would like to see The Night's Watch above or below the House factions (preferably below as it would be in alphabetical order that way). Otherwise, looks great! Thank you!

With all the stuff that came out at GenCon, I feel like it might be awhile before you get free time to play it.

Edit: Take my words back about the working part - it does not save your decks... :) 403 - forbidden which is nice :)

Is OCTGN deck exporting going to be supported for 2.0?

Hi Darksbane

Thank you (and Pipes) for getting this up here. Let's hope FFG support their asset with cards quickly on chapter pack release.

I gave a long list of "nice to haves" for the Conquest Deckbuilder and you were incredibly gracious to oblige, to everyone's benefit. So please don't take the following suggestions as anything more than positive enhancements to the Deckbuilder.

Obviously the ability to save, submit decks (ideally just review everyone's visible decks like on other sites), edit submitted decks and post on submitted decks, export to OCTGN (this is really crucial and bugs need to be solved as a priority), these are hygiene functionality expected from today's ungrateful masses.

However there are a few deckbuilding help features that may not be obvious. These are functions that exist in Conquest so I know you have incorporated them.

> Change your faction (blue button in Conquest) - this will automatically kick out loyal cards of your prior faction in your picks, effectively is simply a filter on what loyal cards will appear in the list, so no need for the loyalty filter as what gets seen is a function of your faction choice.

> When you choose (or change) your faction, you see that faction and Neutral ticked only. Like in Conquest, you may tick others but unless they match your faction (all) or banner (non-loyal), you can only see but not pick those other factions.

> Highlight loyal cards in the current list (with a blue dot like Conquest) even if you can't pick them (like when you tick a side faction just to see what the options are and whether it's better to switch main and/or banner faction)

> Only allow 1 agenda pick (next pick overrides old unless it's a future multiple agenda) and not show the banner of your faction (really minor, just "nice"). If you change your banner agenda, call the same pick legality subroutine that is changing your faction and auto-tick the new faction banner you choose, un-ticking the prior. In the same way, check on Submit (not save) that there are only 7 Plots (only 0-1 x2 and not one of the Limit 1 Plots) and minimum 60 other cards (this may already exist).

> Sort your picks by "Cost within Type" so you can see your cost curve of characters then the curve of your locations etc

I assume Traits can be picked up in Text box which is actually useful as often you just want to filter on all cards that are either that Trait or reference that Trait. So not isolating Trait is great when I use it anyway.

I really like the card count of each faction and neutrals at the bottom as it helps with the Agendas but again there could be a check ( on Submit not Save) that the deck is agenda-legal based on faction/neutral composition using these tallies that already exist. Just a nice touch.

I suspect some other niggles will come to light (I've only had a quick explore on my phone this morning) and I know I am relying on your good grace and perfectionism to oblige. But these are all just "nice to have". I also appreciate that GenCon has an influx of new cards in all the games so this is a very busy time for you and Pipes.

In case this sounds too negative and picky, I want to go out of my way to say how grateful I am for your site that has been the number 1 reason I am a LCG nut. I use your Deckbuilders for all the games except Netrunner (mainly because of the lack of forum chat here as BGG took it up at genesis) and whilst I confess that I far prefer the modern Bauhaus minimalist style of NRDB to the medieval Rococo style here, when it comes to Thrones, the CGDB style feels appropriate.

I am eternally grateful for your efforts in building this site pre-buy, it literally changed my life and no doubt many others. However, as someone who has mainly only patronised CGDB and tried to help its visibility with controversial (lifeblood of a good forum) or sometimes insightful posts, I would urge you as a big fan to please fix the OCTGN exports in all the Deckbuilders as a priority. It really is the main reason why people are moving to other sites and this value-destruction of a FFG asset needs to be halted. Please.

I thank you once again for all your endeavours. I remain endebted and I hope all the good karma of the joy that your site has given to so many is returned upon you and your family.

Hi exoter, I'm always open to suggestions on ways to improve the UI.
Regarding the inability to save I haven't had anyone else with this problem yet. Can you let me know what browser/OS you are using, and if you are not using the Chrome browser if you could give it a try in it and let me know if it works there. Thanks.

Doesn't the decks section and import handle most of this? Or am I not understanding what you are asking for?

call the same pick legality subroutine

Regarding all the legality in decks stuff after some talks with FFG it was determined that the deckbuilding in GoT is going to be much more fluid and much more likely to break any or all of the established rules. Given this they had to choose between potentially modifying the code/rules for many of the releases or going with a more free form deckbuilding. In the end it was decided to go with more free form (at least initially) so that it works for every release with the least amount of effort. Right now the only things that are enforced are the per card limits and 2x 1 plot and 1x all the other plots. The loyalty rules are semi enforced but there is a toggle in the settings to turn them off. That isn't to say in the future there won't be more automated restrictions based on the cards you have chosen for your deck or legality checkers at submit time but for right now it isn't in there.

I'm not privy to any of the cards beyond the core set so I'm not even sure what is coming down the pipe regarding this.

> Sort your picks by "Cost within Type" so you can see your cost curve of characters then the curve of your locations etc

The character cost curve is in the graph at the bottom, wouldn't the graph be a better place for other cost curves?

I confess that I far prefer the modern Bauhaus minimalist style of NRDB to the medieval Rococo style here, when it comes to Thrones, the CGDB style feels appropriate.

If you prefer minimalist I do have a theme in the settings called 'flat' which should remove alot of the bling. Combined with the no center image layout and minimizing the card lists you should be able to get everything pretty compact. Ex:

I know this is an issue on many/all of the games. Given the nature of how OCTGN works it is a pain to keep things in sync. I don't actually work for FFG so beyond the occasional contract work I do, like making a new deck builder, everything else I do is on my own free time, and unfortunately I have had virtually none of that this year.

So I'm trying to find a workable solution. I might have something going in Conquest that could work but it will require someone to volunteer to take ownership of the octgn stuff and bug me around the time new releases happen to coordinate the stuff I would have to do. If anyone is willing to do this for Conquest (and/or possibly GoT2nd) send an email to drew.dallas [at] gmail.com  If I can find someone willing to do that and it works for Conquest I could gradually expand it to all the other games when I get some time.

As always sparrowhawk thanks for the kind words and please keep the suggestions coming.

Great work on this deckbuilder--very much appreciated.  One additional comment though (and this may because I'm blind), but can we add a way to filter card type within the search?  Deciding on plots with neutral cards too is a bit jarring.

Filtering by type is right above the faction checkboxes and below the order by dropdown.

So, what is the easiest way to get the deck I built here into OCTGN? I know there is no export feature, but I'm assuming there is a workaround?

As of yet, there is not a workaround that I know of. You would just have to manually build the deck in OCTGN.

Is OCTGN deck exporting going to be supported for 2.0?

So, what is the easiest way to get the deck I built here into OCTGN? I know there is no export feature, but I'm assuming there is a workaround?

OK, not much testing has gone into this but if you go under the "Export" tab with a deck built in the deckbuilder you can now choose to export as an o8d file.

I'll attempt to get the export working in the deck section also this weekend.

In my testing I've made a couple of decks and exported them today but if anyone exports and the deck won't load into OCTGN or it is missing cards let me know.

Big thanks to Staton for volunteering to keep the AGOT2nd OCTGN GUID list current on here for the future, so there shouldn't be a problem like with the other games where it stops working. Once I'm reasonably confident that it is working correctly I'm going to give Staton a page where he can load in the OCTGN xml and generate a lookup table for the deckbuilder to use. So when a new release happens and is added into OCTGN he will be able to generate the file and send it to me and I'll drop it on the server.

I hope with this system in place we will solve the OCTGN export problem (yes I plan to gradually add this for the other games too - Conquest is close to ready if anyone wants to volunteer for that). I think this will prevent FFG from having to directly support octgn, it will take some of the load off me since I don't use OCTGN, and the updates will hopefully be out quickly because people who actually do use OCTGN will be wanting to export to it.
