Just built it (at 65 cards, still cutting to 60 because, well..... math.)  Looking forward to trying it out, as the renown does look super appealing.

Plots are:

2x Noble Cause

1x Calling the Banners

1x Calm over Westeros

1x Sneak Attack

1x Confiscation

1x Building Orders

Idea being get gold and play dudes.  It runs:

2x of most heavy hitters (3x Randyll)

3x Bodyguard to keep them around

0x Asha, since she clutters the 5g slot and doesn't really add enough speed compared to the others

2x Varys to set up game winning turns if you have dupes/bodyguards.  May change if afraid of Marched, but right now I like 2x Varys as a general rule for most decks.

It may sound kind of crazy, but if you're going for the rush power game, try these plots:

1x Noble Cause

1x Calling the Banners

1x Calm over Westeros

1x Heads on Spikes

1x Confiscation

1x Feast for Crows

1x Clash of Kings

Feast for Crows gives you 1 less gold than Noble Cause, but it can give you 2 more power if you play for dominance, which Greyjoy kind of wants to do anyway.

You still have the 1 Noble Cause specifically for Euron, but everyone else is 6 or less, so you can play anyone else out of Feast for Crows.

Add Heads on Spikes for a free intrigue claim and the possibility to gain 2 more free power simply from your plots.

Clash of Kings is a Sneak attack for power (which a power rush deck will be focusing on with Sneak attack anyway) with 2 fewer initiative. The only card it doesn't beat is another Sneak attack. And with a few salty navigators, you could even get that high anyway. Then, you can even do some intrigue and military attacks too if you want.

I find Tyrell and Greyjoy to mesh very well, as they are uber renown. This plot deck gives you plenty of gold to play as many of your big hitters as you can and as long as you run 3 king's roads and 3 rose roads, you will be golden in terms of economy.

The Building orders is a tough drop because you obviously want the Great Kraken out as soon as possible, but honestly, you aren't getting many unopposed challenges off when you're relying on KoF and Randyll anyway. You could probably afford to wait on it until you have your full Greyjoy family out.

It's also tough that you dropped Asha, because she is great for maintaining stealth by standing back up each battle.

The Varys thing is a tough call. He's such a worthless card except in a few extreme examples. 6 gold for a 3 strength monocon who is a prime target for milk is just a little expensive in an already very expensive deck.

Let me know how it playtests. I'm running a Tyrell Greyjoy deck with some good success, I'm curious how the inverse works out.

Magicdave - That looks pretty solid.  I still prefer 3x Randyll (explosive if you get Seal, Margaery, or Heartsbane).  Looking at it more, I agree with you and habesjn that Varys is probably not worth it.  I also prefer 3x Bodyguard, just because it is so important to keep your power on the board and more people are playing Varys now.

My version runs close to 40 characters, and fewer events.  I have 1x Superior Claim (doesn't help you if you are behind, at all), 1x Kraken's Grasp (they see 1, they expect 3.  Not saying 3 is wrong, as it is an effective card), and 2x We Do not Sow.

I also have 3x Shipwright, he straight up answers big threats like Highgarden, Ghaston Grey, Red Keep, etc.... when going first, and slows down econ cards on the turn they are played (Kingsroard/Fiefdoms).

Let me know how it goes!  I haven't seen a pure rush like this for 2nd Ed yet, looking forward to seeing how it plays out and what tweaks are in order.

------------------

habesjn - I actually considered the "Book Plots" for extra power grab, ultimately I got too worried that the top-end of the curve was too big to omit Sneak Attack and 2x Noble Cause.  You could very well be correct that those are better, though, as the power grab comes from the plot instead of a character you have to pay for, protect, etc....

Non-Negotiable plots (obviously, IMO) are:

- 1x Noble Cause (maybe 2x, have to have 1x though)

- Calling the Banners

- Calm over Westeros (turn 1 Naval Superiority ruins this deck, I'm afraid.  I typically dislike this opening, but here it seems necessary).

- Confiscation

Heads on Spikes is an interesting decision here.  You aren't really leveraging the ability that Lanni would have to empty hands, so we are playing it here for the stats and potential power grab.  I don't like the power grab being so luck dependant.  In a typical GJ deck where going first is more paramount, I get it.  Here, though, I would rather have a shot at Great Kraken which just becomes a win-condition by itself, or Seal/Milk/Kingsroads.

I do really like the 6-1-1, though, especially if we find room for more Damphair and Iron Throne.  6g is a ton, and the dominance power grab is just icing.

The 4-9-1 (Clash of Kings?) is really nice as well, and to your point it serves a similar purpose as Sneak Attack.  The main difference is that Sneak Attack makes for a killer opener in some matchups with 2 claim MIL (and like Calm over Westeros, is immune to Naval Superiority).  Clash doesn't have that flexibility, and is basically only played late-game.  Sneak Attack w/ Great Kraken and any way to force UO is 4 power, add in X where X is renown dudes w/ power icons, and it is a killer closer as well.

------------

This deck has some interesting potential, although I feel like there are 2 versions of the same deck (Pure Power Grab vs. Aggro w/ a Rush Module) that can make discussion a bit muddy.

The original list in this thread can putter out a bit since it relies so heavily on Bob and Mel. If you don't get a decent draw and/or one of your big shots gets put to the sword early it can be rough. Also, Stannis doesn't always work out in your favor. Finally, if someone has their own Iron Throne, the Painted Table can be blanked (stole one with Euron today, heh).

I might tinker with banner builds since it seems like the deck might be more consistent with some more threats, even if it might be weaker than the fealty "nuts" draw.

Edit: to be clear, not saying Bara fealty is bad, it's still really good, but a banner deck might be more consistent. Not sure yet

How well does stark murder deal with t1 game of thrones, it seems a pretty much an ideal counter. Does the tempo loss hurt too much or does it recovery momentum from t2 onwards?

It's in my bara build already, and I think it should be in most builds with a control element.

As a Stark murder player I can absolutely confirm that Game of Thrones is annoying... but it's not a major problem and rarely decides a game.  I've done a lot of testing vs defensive decks with both Game of Thrones and Calm Over Westeros and won.

The Stark deck is not all-in on having a great first turn (at least the version I play isn't), instead it's about consistent pressure of multiple kills per turn over many turns.  If you delay when that starts with Game of Thrones then it helps, but usually it means that I switch into developing my board state ready for Wildfire Assault, then applying all that pressure after Wildfire has set back your stronger early deployment.
