That's is correct. Covering Fire can sacrifice any unit, doesn't matter if they are participating or not, or if they're ready or exhausted. Go to the full post »

Covering Fire text reads: "Action: During an engagement, sacrifice a unit to place 1 shield on each friendly participating unit."

 

I assume this and similar worded cards can be applied to any unit? That is, I don't have to sacrifice a unit participating in the engagement. I can sacrifice a unit, even one already focused from a previous engagement, to place a shield on each friendly unit participating in the engagement?
