Cultist Tokens-What Are They?

Best Answer Khudzlin , 22 July 2016 - 09:35 AM

Tokens are units, like Warlord units, Army units and Synapse units. So anything that affects units will affect tokens, but anything that affects Army units specifically won't affect tokens (or the other types of units). Also, as TheNick said, Cultists can be used to reduce the cost for Daemon units, as printed on them.

Tokens are special. They're different from units but very similar. They act as a normal unit (but targets that affect 'army units' don't affect token units, and vice-versa), but these specific kind of tokens can be sacrificed to reduce the cost of daemon units.

So they double as small fighters who can be sacrificed (on an altar?) for big daemons.

As an extra point, they aren't "tokens" like damage tokens, but rather the small half-sized cards that come in the Core Set, along with the Snotlings, Guardsmen and Khymeras (as well as the Termagants in the Tyranid box). You may only have 10 of a particular token in play at any one time, but this limit is per token rather than a global limit (e.g. you can have 10 Cultists and 10 Snotlings in play, for example)
