HI all

i'm playing a lot the Greyjoy faction and now with the release of "Callet to Arms" CP i'm trying to find good combinations of ideas and tips to make the deck competitive, especially to counter Winterfell that is full of pain for this deck.

i don't know if i will play Greyjoy at the upcoming italian national championship, but i want to keep the door open 'cose this is my favourite house, and i have to give to the iron island a right spot during the playtests  :D

Lets talk

Premise:

WINTER AGENDA: In my opinion the faction is not ready yet to run Kings of Winter agenda since Fishwiskers is too situational ( even if is another one UOpposer in adding with Balon ) not having a support in other cards excepted the obvious winter plot. You can't build a full winter dedicated plot deck not being able to play without plots like: Noble Cause, Confiscation or/and Weapons at the Door, Wildifire Assault, Rise of the Kraken then the free slots are three or four

BASIC STRATEGY: The most obvious is the rush one, there is no need to talk about, but there is one more chance to diversify the strategy with an aggro/rush idea using the Cap. Daughter, Put to the sword and Seastone Char for control the board in adding to the power rush

THE AGENDA: Fealty and Lord of the Crossing are the obvious ( and the only ) choiches, i really don't like LOTR because force you to play in a forced way, and if you miss an icon ( the intrigue one )it may create problems, even if the bonus strenght helps Balon to UO challenges, in adding with the bonous point.

Then my choice preference goes to Fealty that helps the economy and the deck don't lose anything in therms of rush and char ( with LOTR Euron is very difficoult to pay )

Now the Deck:

This is the deck that i've played during my last big tournament, The Milan Fighting Pits with a Top 8 placement ( sixth ) with the few changes i've in mind

If you still want card draw, try Ranger's Cache.

I am wondering where the winter is?

If you read all the post, you will find the answer  :D at this time a full winter strategy is no competitive, the only reason to play winter is to counter WInterfell, and then Fishwiskers find place, for more UO challenges if happen

Look at this as Greyjoy Winter ( plot ) thread

If you still want card draw, try Ranger's Cache.

i find it a good idea, it can relplace the previous counting coppers that i usually play in turn two. The real problem is initiative that is important in this deck, maybe i can play it instead of one Snowed under

I find First Snow followed by a Famine can be pretty devastating. Usually open Wraiths.

And Fishwhiskers is, of course, devastating on a First Snow turn.

I have thought of running fishing net over milks in Broncos build.  Is this a poor choice in a kings of winter deck?  I have had good success running nets in LotC greyjoy decks.

I personally prefer to include the Milks. There's no greater pain in the @rse than getting Gregor'd/Mirri'd/Tyene'd, and Fishing Nets don't deal with this problem at all. Of course, Kings of Winter would like to be choking your opponents resources so they're not even on the board, but y'know, Pentoshi is still a thing.
