Thank you for taking the trouble of sharing these comprehensive results and listing all the breakdowns etc. I appreciate the effort.

Take-outs for me were:

- Rise of Baratheon (noted elsewhere, counter to NW and Lanni, 3 of 5 made cut)

- 5 of 7 Martells made the cut (6th was at 20th) so most consistent over-performer

- Decline of Stark (Winter everywhere, only 7 and LotC at 28 was highest ranked)

- Tyrell continuing to under-represent and underperform (highest of the 5 was 27)

- Lanni still over-represented (appeals to mid-table players hence underperforming)

- Otherwise the Czech-Slovak meta seems vibrant, mixed & healthy (unlike Canada)

I don't understand how there was a cut for Top 16 on 71 when we had a cut for Top 8 on 77 for a Regional. Is it discretionary on the TO where to cut?

I note that the King of Swiss (only unbeaten player) was promptly knocked out in round 1 of the cut by the 16th placed player who had lost 2 matches in Swiss. I see this happening a lot.

Now I know this is not the right thread to discuss this. But I voiced my views in that Beyond The Wall discussion that went to 3 pages (the episode with supercuts enlivening it) and I will voice it again here.

In Thrones' best of 1 format (non-negotiable outside a Final), when we know crucial set-up and max. variance mulligans can make-or-break your game, why do we insist on maximising variance with this structure?

In Netrunner, you have double elimination; you need to lose twice in the cut to be out. Magic is in-built best 2 out of 3 for every match. It just feels like we love to maximise chances of an outsider winning in so many ways that the game is structured.

This is great for inclusiveness in smaller tournaments. But Nationals is a premier event with a Ticket to Worlds from many markets. Many big European tourneys already do best 2 out of 3 in the Final to avoid one-sided snowball fizzles.

I'm not wishing to add controversy to what is a great post, sir. Thank you. (But I suspect this post may now get a few more visits if a debate emerges regarding the cut elimination approach.)

if you do a 6 rounds plus cut on the same day double elims is impossible....as it was the final was done around 1-2 AM?
