So I'm considering buying some of the game on the cheap. Could folks give me a rundown on what some of the best/worst aspects and mechanics arre?

I really like Warhammer Invasion. I think it was a fairly robust system with a lot of potential.
Resource/Card draw was a very good system. In fact, with the exception of a few cards, being able to place cards in any of 3 zones allowed for a very varied way to play, especially between factions.
The flavour was excellent. The factions played like they should and the theme was dripping from every card. The artwork was gorgeous as well.
My only complaint was that several Warhammer factions were skipped completely except in the form of neutral cards, that never felt quite right to me. Other than that, I have no complaints about the game (except a few broken cards).

This game is excellent, my favourite LCG by far.
The best part is how you manage your resources/draw, making some investment decisions. Fun as hell, delicious art and flavour everywhere. It really feels like a card game, not like some LCG's that are more bardgame-oriented.
The worst part is how unbalanced factions were (at least in the begining) and how some dominated all the game's life, but eventually it reached an even state (for main factions, I feel the neutral ones not polished, due to the game's premature death). Also, the combat was way too telegraphed and people always played conservatively about it.
I really really recomend this game.
