Heavy Marker Drones

Best Answer tdnordine , 28 January 2017 - 02:38 PM

Flying and doubling from HMD occur at the same time so, in your first example:

3 damage doubled for HMD is 6, cut in half for flying to 3.

3 damage doubled for HMD is 6, doubled for second HMD to 12 and then cut in half to 6 damage.

Rounding doesn't occur until all Halfing and doubling is done. Go to the full post »

This may have been answered before back in 2015 sometime, but nevertheless:

Heavy Marker Drone

Attach to an enemy army unit

Double damage dealt to attached unit

Let's say one of those fiendish Heldrakes gets a HMD; now it is dealt three damage by Shi Or'es, an attack from a non-flying unit. The Heldrake's flying keyword reduces the damage to two and then the HMD increases the damage to four. So far so good.

What happens if the Heldrake has two HMDs stalking it? Does it make any difference to the total damage assigned if it had?

I'm a little unsure whether having two HMDs would have any additional effect, particularly regarding timing, since the HMD's text is a declaration/constant effect.

Cheers

I see. Thanks. I overlooked the part about how fractional modifiers isn't rounded up until all modifiers have been applied. Though it isn't stated that HMD's doubling effect occurs before the flying keyword's halving effect, so as far as I can see it may as well be:

3 damage halved by flying into 1.5, which is then doubled by a HMD into 3, and perhaps even further into 6 if there are two HMDs

The result is the same of course.

Regardless of that, from what you say I understand that having multiple MHDs does have additional affect on the total damage a unit is assigned. Good to have that clarified. Thank you for responding :)

To be clear, the order that the halfing and doubling occurs is not important, only that all of them occur before any rounding.

Indeed. Seems fair as well.

So if I have two ten man squads both with 4 heavy each then that would be legal?

George, I have no idea what you are asking.  Can you rephrase it?
