What sets work best with Rex? Is there a decktype that he works best in?

Seconded. Really just want enhancements that can afford to be tapped down for multiple turns.

My first attempt at a deck will look something like this (my cards are on the slow boat)

Jedi
2x Rex
2x Sabine
2x Zeb
1x Momaw
1x Balance Dash
1x Echo Caverns

1x Something else that I’m not sure about yet. I don’t really need resources. It could be Yoda, Falcon, Gamor, Core Luke, Hera. I probably want to up the unit count (thanks Sabine) and having a 5-2 could be valuable. Could go No Match. That could be interesting.

I also see kind of sinergy with A Hero's Trial, so i put it instead of Balance Dash and Echo Caverns in Jarratt's list.

One of the things to note about Rex is that his pod is just strong. Like Rex himself is a better version of Dengar who is easier to trigger and he has a money that draws cards. I seriously wonder if simply putting him with the refresh affiliation is all he needs to be the complete package

So if that is the case, which Jedi sets? I am assuming that some form of Luke goes in. Mysteries as was mentioned seems good, and Balance Obi also seems like a good idea. But, you lose out on Gamor, Zeb and Momaw, all of which seem like good includes.

Balance Dash is an interesting choice. Why?

Primarily the event. I like the idea of triple using Echo Caverns or Rex’s Card draw enhancement with a BF engineer and the event. It’s also pretty solid on Sabine to get her to double strike. For a zero cost event that seems good.

I don’t know if it’s super awesome but I’m about mixing in some fun on a first pass at trying new cards.

I think with the spare slot and Dash I could easily throw in A Hero’s Trial but I also kind of know how that will work so let’s try something else first.

Oh nice, it's been a long time since I looked at that set. I could have been trying to one-shot objectives with Independence + Smuggling Shipment all this time ;)

Better yet, double tap Independence to one shot the Trench.

Hrs Luke makes a lot of sense because the lightsaber pops in and out of play which will allow it to trigger the objective multiple times.

Rex's objective's reaction only happens after a phase begins, so why is everyone jamming their decks with enhancements? How many times in two turns are you realistically going to trigger it?   Am I missing something here?

How many times would you use May the Force be with You if you weren't limited by force cards?

Rex's objective could be used pretty often, i think. You could play Sabine's Armor using her own resource, free her up at the begin of a conflict phase, attack and free her up again to commit to the Force or to leave her in defend. That's on your turn. Good for ability to play events with live resources in refresh or draw phase during opponent's turn to make unit ready again in conflict phase as well. That requires a lot of enhancements of course.

Also, it is not just the objective. The set is really well built. Assuming you are using Rex in a deck with a non-rebel affiliation card, he is going to get 2 combat icons of choice when he strikes. His set has 2 resource enhancements, one of which can be used for card draw and the other to pay for any type of unit. The battlefield engineer goes with the theme of the objective and so does the fate card.

I admit when I first saw the set months ago when it was spoiled I was down on it. I didn’t like that it was a multifaction set with a trained Leader. Not that Leader synergy is actually great yet, but it’s one of those Rebel things I want to be great.

But after some reflection and time it’s hard not to see all the benefits of the set. My pack finally arrived today so I’m looking forward to trying him out

All these enhancement builds almost makes me want to sneak Veers into my Imperial fortress build to trigger the heretofor horrible turbolaser battery... almost

Even turbolaser cannot stop Luke's Lightsaber!
