I was thinking about buying The Miskatonic Museum, but I am a little unclear about what a Mythos Pack is. I know that it has new player cards and a new adventure, but is it a stand alone adventure? Will I need encounter and enemy cards from the Core Set or Dunwich Legacy to play it? Will investigators need XP to be successful, or can they start with no XP?

I am thinking about buying this to introduce some people to the game but not playing it as a part of a larger campaign right away. Would this be the correct use for this product or should I buy a stand alone adventure instead? Thanks!

The Mythos packs are a continuation of a campaign started in the larger, deluxe expansions. The Dunwich Legacy is the campaign starter and comes with 2 scenarios and is then continued in the mythos packs.

The deluxe is pretty good value with 2 scenarios, New investigators and a wealth of new player cards. If your group enjoy the game you would then add Mythos packs to further the campaign. Scenarios from the Mythos pack often require cards from the deluxe expansions and the core set.

Do you have the core set?

Carnivale of Horrors and Curse of the Rougarou are standalone adventures and require only player cards to play. Assuming you have the core set then these are a good way to test the game.
