I wanted to take some time to thank everyone at worlds who took the time to unwrap, sort, think about, and play games with the Legends of the Force cycles that I bought. I ended up giving away all 19 sets + 3 sets that I stole from the NYC meta (they will be getting replacements). There was so much excitement that these new cards inspired and they slipped into decks seamlessly with the real cards. The creativity I saw was astounding - cards and pods that I had not considered to be interesting or powerful were seen as combo pieces (Sturm / Drang plus Life Creates It), centerpieces to decks (Kyle and Corran Horn in a Pilot / Home One deck), and downright broken (Engineered Suffering / Bounty combo - Still under review). I wanted to open this thread up to discuss decklists and thematic moments now possible with this new cycle.

Also, I wanted to discuss how I can get these cards into as many hands as possible. First, I have attached another link to these cards. The link below is for a PDF version of the cycle that has all 32 pods in their own 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. If you print this document (twice), you should have perfectly sized cards to print and cut out so you can play yourself. Alternatively, if you were not one of the 22 people who received cycles form me at worlds, I am happy to announce that I will be doing a second print run in the near future. If you are interested in getting a set (or any additional sets), please message me privately so that we can discuss how many you want and what the best address would be to ship it to you. Once I get a headcount, I will order more sets of cards and send them as soon as possible. I will only accept donations for whatever the production and shipping costs were, I'm really just trying to get these in people's hands.

Hopefully, you all enjoy these cards and we can discuss them as a part of the game in the future. My overarching goal for this set was to 1) legitimize a fan-made set and 2) set a standard of quality, consistency, and playtesting for community cards going forward. Thanks again for everyone who has been a part of this process and for everyone who uses them in their decks. Please hit me up if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Colby

Okay, so I had a ton of fun building with these.

For the Dark Side, the favorite list that I made was:

Scum/Navy 7 Card (Legends in bold)

2 Might of the Empire
2 Endor Entrapment
Pallaeon's Plan
2 Masterful Manipulation
2 Patrolling the Wastes (1x Aurra Sing)
2 Pursuing the Bounty

The deck was designed around my favorite card in the set - Gilad Pallaeon. His set was designed to pair with the Chimera and his ability lets him bring shielded units into engagements at the cost of a shield. Now, I didn't know about it during design, but in the 5th pack of the alliances cycle, we would get another pod that utilizes and plays with shields in an interesting way - Patrolling the wastes. When I saw that set, I wanted to use the Shield Generator Mods to buff Gladiators, giving the bulk they need to survive without needing a DP20 for support all the time. So the deck was heavily centered around having shield tricks and 4 protections, while also being great at edge. With that in mind, I added the new Pilot IG88 from Pursuing the Bounty to add icons and elite to my gladiators, while also having the IG2000 around to reward me for winning edge. Also, the IG2000 was an excellent ship to bring into combat with Pallaeon's effect because it has all black icons.
The deck played well against Josh's Freeholder Jedi list. We had a long standoff that was punctuated by Gamor topdecks flipping the force both ways. I built a board and refused to attack due to some PTSD of False Reports gone wrong - his t2 Slicing In had me worried. So we each built a board and an edge hand until the dial got to 7 or so at which point Josh needed to attack into my board of high edge and tactics. He had a Dune Sea Hero on board, but Xizor's 2 tactics handled that nicely. Ultimately, the shields and edge proved to be too high a wall for him to climb, and I won with a big strike in the next few turns. Simple game, but complicated boardstates.

On the Light Side, I am very interested in the Cargo Hauler from Under the Radar. Although it is hard to get into a position where it can strike without getting paid off, it puts your opponent in a position where they cannot comfortably spend all of their money. It feels like adding a Black Sun Headhunter to their board, but you get 2 bombs and 1 tactic. I paired it with its intended friend, Talon Karde, as well as a synergistic partner, Cassian. Cassian brought me a way to refresh the hauler or Karde in combat and get more for my money often. Also, with Legitimate business and a 1x Staging post from Covert Operation,  I had plenty of money to afford Cassian's event and trooper cancels. Finally, he also let me run K-2S0, who I was very excited about. The list ended up looking like this:

Smuggler / Rebel 7 Cards
2 Under the Radar
2 Bargaining for Profit
2 Calling in Favors
2 Pushing back the Empire
1 Covert Operation
1 Planning the Attack (1x K-2S0)
1 Haunting the Empire
1 The Lost Commander (1x K-2S0)

I played against Tyler's Legends-Thrawn deck and it was a very personal, thematic fight between Hera and Thrawn. Early on I had a call to action on board that I blew up on t3, bouncing Thrawn. This was made possible by the ramp provided from synergies with Legitimate business, Under the Radar, and Hera's 2-money objective. Once Thrawn hit the board again, I was able to use Covert Operation to shuffle an important Ion Disruptor back into Tyler's deck (preventing a Thrawn/Well Equipped play), and go in strong with a big edge hand. Tyler, showing both Cultural Arts records from The Grand Admiral's Strategy and the Command Meditation Chamber from Private Death Commandos, was set to fight an edge battle, but my hand seemed intimidating. I put in 6 cards to edge (I think I knew he had no twist), and he used the Arts Records to flip over 1 card, which happened to be my 1 copy of Hera herself. The theme was real as it felt like Hera and her team had infiltrated and overthrown Thrawn's base completely. It was a cool moment, and it really gave the game a thematic feel.

The NOLA group is planning to play each pack in the cycle, as though it were being released every 4-6 weeks.  That will give us enough time to digest.  Maybe we'll blog some of our reflections and input for you.

I really like the cards. I'd like to play a lot with them. There are some wording errors on the cards. I will share everything I find.

I like this DS Hero's Trial with: Hunted, Bones, Niles Ferrier :), pilot Boba.

Thanks CoDameron for making this cycle available to everyone! The cards are super interesting and thematic.

It will be fun to discuss them at length once everyone has had a chance to digest them. I will say that from my limited experience thus far, the Legends version of 8t88 can be a real problem for the Light Side if you've got a bunch of capture effects and they can't get him off the board.

For reference, he's a 4-cost, 3-health unit with two pips, a black blast, a black tactics, and a white tactics. He's elite while committed to the Force and he has an Action with no limit: Discard a captured card to place 2 focus tokens on a target unit that shares a name with the captured card.

I think that's fine, since Colby's been on the Cracken/Skreej train for a while. It's about time someone did something about it!

I'm going to ask this here before I post anything: But do you mind if I make a Printer Studio/Artscow project for this set?  I wouldn't make it to where I'm going to make money off of it, lol.  I just think it would be an awesome idea for the community.  If not I'm still gonna make my own for my own personal use, lol.  Really love the set, dude.

Edit: Just made it.  If you're ok with me posting I'll post it here for you guys.

Thanks for the comment. I found playing against 8t88 extremely frustrating, as you had enough cards captured that all the significant units I played past the third turn were immediately focused, then locked down by an army of tactics-toting pilots. I suspect a deck with May the Force Be With You, Force Rejuvination, Bamboozle, Cloud City Operative or Size Matters Not would have fared better, but my deck had no way to remove focus.

A deck that favored singletons over duplicates would also have been fine, but I hope the meta never gets to a point where that's a necessity. I like building decks around specific pods and interactions, and I want to see those interactions as much as possible.

I must also admit that you had a great start, with two copies of the enhancement that let you look at the top two cards of my deck and capture one, plus enough resources you could use the capture effect consistently. A set should be powerful when the pieces come together.

Having said that, I find the difference between the unofficial 8t88 and the recently-printed IG-88D striking. IG-88D costs five, lacks elite, only has one tactics, and can only use his reaction on the Dark Side player's turn, so the Light Side at least has a chance to attack or take the Force with the duplicate unit before it becomes useless. Because IG-88D's action is limited to once a turn, the Light Side player can also flood the board and potentially have a defender even if the opponent has duplicates of all cards in play captured.

Of course, IG-88D is rarely played, so he may not be the best example. But neither is the official Ysanne Isard, who keeps captured units from being played. Personally, I'm grateful for that. When she works, Ysanne is so oppressive that a friend of mine asked me never to play her again. I don't blame him. Star Wars has its share of one-sided games, but at least most of those involve some interaction and give players an opportunity to dig for answers. A repeatable Telekinetic Strike does not.

I'm also disappointed to see Explosive Charge reprinted. It requires an enhancement and a resource to work, but when those conditions are met, it puts Light Side players in an awkward position: Do they play a resource and risk losing it immediately, which could render them unable to play a significant unit, or hold the resource back even though that means getting further and further behind the Dark Side as the game progresses? I don't find that gamble compelling, and I doubt I'm alone. Perhaps that is why Bombing Run, the most recent resource destroyer, can only be played on the Dark Side player's turn, only targets non-limited enhancements, and costs two resources rather than one.

While 8t88 and Explosive Charge colored my initial perception of the set, it's nice to see an influx of new cards. I'm looking forward to abusing some of the more powerful cards, such as the event that lets a Jedi unit-including Yoda, the galaxy's ultimate gunslinger-strike immediately after edge. I hope time shows that they're balanced and fun in practice as long as both sides have well-matched decks and decent draws.

I personally think being able to grab resupply Depot with Corren Horns objective will lead to some very one-sided games.

Hey! I saw your post yesterday, but I wasn't exactly sure what you were referring to and I hadn't had a chance to respond to it yet. I was going to ask what you were talking about, as I am unaware of what exactly Printer Studio is (such as an image hosting service vs a commercial printing one). I see now that is is a commercial printing service that you have uploaded the cycle to, and admittedly, it does make me a little concerned.

It is my intention that I NOT sell or monetize these cards / images in ANY way. I am making it very clear that this is a gift I am giving to the community, and that nobody is making any profit on these. Additionally, as most of this art and templating is not my own, I do not have the right (and I give nobody else the right) to sell or monetize this in any way. I do not know your affiliation with Printer Studio, but I can only assume that you have something to gain by uploading these images to their site. This is not something that I would like, so I would like to request that these be taken down.

I provided these images for the community to reference, or print out and play with only. If someone would like a copy of more tangible cards, then they can ask me personally through private messages. And to be clear again, I will not be charging these people anything, and will only accept payment of the cost of production if these people choose to do so.

Thanks,

Colby

Again I would like to clarify that I'm NOT making any money off of this.  It's actually possible to do so but the way I have it set it directly links to a pre-made project that you have to buy for the printing costs yourself.  The only people making money off of this is Printer Studio, which is understandable cause the process of printing these take money.  This is no different from other communities posting the same projects on BGG and the like.

But either way if you don't want it posted I won't post it.  I'll just buy these cards myself for my own personal use, lol.

I would love love love the opportunity to have these printed with the correct LCG backs.  I play (casually) with clears and would love to not have to sleeve every time I use one of these sets

Hey everyone!

Due to the excellent reception and demand for the cards, I am doing a second print-run of the Legends cycle sometime next month! I have already messaged the people who I have directly heard from, but for those of you who have not heard from me, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! If you are interested in a set of legends cards, please message me (privately, not as a reply to this post) and let me know HOW MANY sets you want and the ADDRESS you would like them shipped to. I will be putting this print run into action after NEXT SUNDAY (June 3), so if you are interested, please make sure you have a private conversation with me about it before then. I am so happy to have such a great community to appreciate these cards, so please reach out if you want your set.

Of course, for everyone else, the PDF print sheets are still available (and they will continue to be).

Thanks,
Colby

Hi there,

I want to thank CoDameron for this content.

The cards are all fantastic and thematic, and that is great for me.

Just one question:

I'm wondering if it is completely legal to us to use such contents.
I mean we are not the owners of the star wars lcg templates or of the other images.
I know we use them as a mere personal use and not for a commercial one, but the question remains...

Btw thanks again for the great content.  :P

Since today is the deadline Colby gave for requesting a copy of the Legends cycle, I thought this thread should be bumped.

I just discovered this fan-made expansion set and I really like it, especially since I'm a huge fan of Timothy Zahn's excellent Dark Force Rising trilogy. I'd like to know if there'll be more sets coming in the future; I really want to see new versions of Leia Organa (who was imo given 3 versions where 2 were alike in the original sets), Mara Jade (desperately need another), and Grand Admiral Thrawn as well. Thanks!

Any "leftover" sets? Otherwise bumped for those who would like to find the link to the pdf.
