Hi all
After a hiatus I have returned to the LCG scene. I dropped out soon after Conquest was discontinued. I have played AGOT (1 and 2), ANR, CoC and Conquest, and likely a few others that I forgot.
Last weekend I decided to play L5R, which was the game I had been eagerly waiting for back then. But I missed everything from launch up to now, as it worked out (I migrated to MTG and spent the time learning that system well).
I tried a few online games (the automated site)...the game is complex compared with the others I mentioned. I understand the mechanics and rules well, but am less aware of play patterns etc. I also need to set aside some time to go through all the cards- FFG tends to use very wordy games text and therefore it is relatively difficult to read cards in game.
I saw some Team Covenant videos on the various decks, but they seemed to also be very new and learning as they went. As such, the videos (though I appreciate them very much) did not exactly highlight the appropriate play patterns of the various decks.
Anyway, my questions are:
1) Where can I see some good information regarding each clan, including sample games with explanations of the underlying tactics and strategy?
2) Is there a source that kind of summarizes what the game looked like with just the core set, and then the main impacts of the various packs released since?
3) What videos would you recommend to watch that contain skilled opponents on both sides?
Actually there have not been many releases and so I feel that it should not take my long to catch up to date. However, it definitely seems harder than for the other LCGs. Even AGOT 1.0, where I came in right at the end and with the large card pool, did not seem so hard to understand as this!
The other limitation I have is that I can only play at weekends due to the length of the games. As a result I need to try to be efficient about what content I consume during the week in order to improve my ability to play this wonderful game.
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out!
