Hello Star Wars LCG Community,

For the past several months, the Council which was nominated by the community has been working behind the scenes to determine the best way to move forward now that FFG’s involvement with the Star Wars LCG has ended. The community has always been one of the best parts of the game. We want to make sure we move in a direction that has the support of the majority of players. Here are our initial plans.

1. The Council has basically broken ourselves down into 4 different teams for now. There are teams for Organized Play, Design and Development, Rules, and Community.

2. We plan to continue using cardgamedb as the main community forum for the game. It is possible we will start a separate website in the future, but as far as we can tell most of the online traffic for the game runs through cardgamedb (and has for years). For now we have decided it is best to just utilize this site rather than try to migrate over to another one.

3. Organized Play –We plan to organize an online/Skype tournament using the entire card pool. Details will be coming soon. We are exploring options for possible IRL major events in the future.

4. The Legends Cycle – The Council is aware that many people have physical copies of the cycle distributed by Colby. We are going to create a thread on cardgamedb specifically to get input on these cards. We want to know people’s experiences with the cards (as there were a lot of cards that people got access to at once) since a lot of folks already have them in hand. We want people who have played with the cards to give feedback and propose possible edits. Essentially we are asking the community at large to be involved with Beta playtesting of these cards before we finalize things for official use going forward. We do anticipate having to make changes to some cards to keep things balanced.

5. Champions designed cards – While the concept of replacement cards is intriguing, we have decided to go a different route with these cards. We have approached the creators of these cards about working with the Council’s Design and Development Team to make entire sets designed around their existing champion cards. This way we will not have to worry about replacement cards breaking the game unintentionally. We also may offer other winners a chance to be involved with designing a card/set down the line.

6. Future card design - Thanks to Andy (Fullyops) we already have some content for a new wave of cards but we want to hear from you regarding the theme or direction you would like to see. We plan to solicit input from the community at large as we determine what direction card design should take going forward. This will include both playtesting and input on themes and card ideas for future releases.

As some of us have mentioned on the forums before, the Council wanted to make sure we did not say anything publicly before FFG finally ended their support for the game. Thanks to everyone for their patience in waiting for us to make these initial announcements. We are confident we can all continue to enjoy and play this game as long as the community is on board.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH US ALL!

Quick suggestion: could you put the list of current members in the signature or something?  I think that would be a good thing going forward, to not be seen as a faceless organization.

Suggestion, if we can get actual OP in place my store is willing to still hold events. Maybe go through the seasons like FFG did? Prizes could be alt art or full bleed objective sets much like MTFBWY from Gencon. They could be loaded up on Dropbox or something like that, then the TO could have access to the Dropbox folder and print them for his group

But we are faceless, don't you know Palpatine is just pulling the strings?

In all seriousness though here's the Council members.

Matt Brown
Mick Cipra
Jarratt Gray
Andy Hornby
Josh Johnson
Donovan McFeron
David Tietze
Daniel Trujillo
Bill Yankosky

Edited to fix an error. While Tom has been helping us with some initial set up, he is not actually a member of the council.

Something important going forward is OCTGN or TTS development. TTS is definitely easier as all that's really needed is images uploaded. All mechanics are executed by the users. OCTGN, on the other hand, requires programming. If we're going to add new cards such as the Legends Cycle or the "Andy cycle" someone needs to run point to get images uploaded and/or do appropriate templating in OCTGN.

Who was doing the work on the TTS version?

I wish I had the skills to help here, but I don't. I was learning python some time ago but after leaving Boston I never got back to it.

** EDIT: I forgot about Lackey, and it appears that MasterJediAdam is on top of that one -- this is great even though I've never used Lackey...

I hope this isn't too much trouble, but could someone fill me in on the Council members' usernames?  I know there's a fair amount of cross-pollination going on, and some champs are forumites, but I don't play competitively so I'm pretty out of the loop.  No big deal, just wondering.

Donovan McFeron is doctormungmung (I think).

I can let you know that this is not the case.  I am neither on the council nor Donovan McFeron. ;)

But...but you come up when I search for Brainiac, which I understand to be Donovan's calling card. I'll have to develop new Google-fu techniques.

Oh, cool.  Thanks so much!

And now that you mention Brainiac, I remember a guy who:

A. had DonovanM as a username

B. had Brainiac as an avatar

C. often talked about Brainiac in decks

I'm guessing that's out guy.

It's Shake & Bake, and I helped!!!111

Sorry for not posting screen names before for the Council

I'm pretty sure Donovan McFeron's screen name on cardgamedb is DonovanM.

The rest are correct.

If you expand out to other eras besides the one focused on by FFG, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be all inclusive, even if it is something that is “unpopular”.

Also, please make a Facebook page. It will be easier to track the announcement for most.

Hey, thanks everyone for this coordination effort! I look forward to keeping the game strong in the NYC/Northeast area. Also, I welcome any and all comments and balance efforts with the Legends cycle and I'll keep a close eye on that thread. Obviously, the cycle is designed to be as balanced as possible and still push the power level in some directions. Hopefully we can get it up and running in an online format and maybe get a larger scale tournament going with it.

If we can get GalakFyyar to template the cards and maybe find images for them that would be fantastic! :)

I have PDF's and PNG's of each of the cards as pods and individually. Image quality may vary
