Some pretty big changes. Any thoughts on them?
Hawk Tattoo errata'd.
No fate for second player anymore.

Hawk Tattoo doesn't feel like too big even without errata.
No fate for second player is going to be huge on how it affects overall gameplay. Might even push the aggro decks like Unicorn and Lion even higher up the tiers.
Those changes make Dragon probably even stronger. It's good that HT was dealt with, because the interactions were stupid.
One other change is that the first player is now determined randomly. If you've won the die roll, you do not get to decide to play first or second.
I like the changes. The update to the second player not getting an extra fate means that we have slightly less fate in the game overall, and that being first is slightly better now. As the first player, you will get to pass first more frequently and gain the fate from passing. The second player will catch up in the second turn, when they get to pass first, and they get the first chance for fate from rings.
This certainly makes cards like way of the unicorn/phoenix more appealing than before because there is less fate to be gained in the game. It looks unlikely to see more play of either, but at least this is an interesting change to the core rules.
It was always random and according to a FFG designer you still chose after winning the roll.
Ignithas is correct, in tournament play the regulations states that the randomly determined player gets to choose who is the first player.
Fair enough. Well, we will have to think twice about whether it is better to be first or second player. My early guess is that it is better to be the first player because having the first conflict is pretty useful, especially because there are two clans that like to be first themselves just for the way conflicts work. And you're likely going to get the extra fate from passing first.
Play second is dead. Long live play first.
