I don't know if anyone actually stops by here any more, but I'm organizing an online open-play ladder league that anyone can play in but is meant to be especially helpful for newer players. We have several signed up already, including a few who have been looking for a way to get into playing on Jigoku but have not been comfortable joining other tournaments or just firing up random games.

The league will use pre-selected decks to help reduce the challenge for newer players who can find deck building challenging or who will find a restricted meta a bit easier to get a handle on.

If you are interested, check out the full write up here. It includes information about how to join.

Happy New Year FightingWalloon!

And thank you for organising. Though not in massive crowds, people do stop by here still :)

Good too see this forum still has some signs of life! I’ve not really been active for the past month or so what with Christmas parties, Christmas itself, family stuff etc., and hadn’t looked at my cards in a while either... but that all changed when I went to an Elemental Championship in London in last weekend. I performed predictably badly, partly because I threw together an unpracticed and poorly thought-out deck, and partly because there were lots of players either more dedicated or plain better than I (or more dedicated AND plain better).

But I had such fun regardless! My passion for L5R was never in need of reigniting - but it was a welcome refuelling.

Anyway, i think your relaxed & open online league sounds a great idea, and I particularly like the idea of playing with pre-set decks as that would be a good test of skill for those of us more familiar with the game. I’m not reliable commitment-wise when it comes to playing online but i’ll certainly check out the details as a matter of interest.

Glad you had a good time at the Elemental Championship. I'm hearing good reports about Elemental Championships here in the USA. Sounds like they are getting pretty good attendance and people are having fun.

Yep. 30 people - and that was after they’d wrongly capped the tickets at 32 due to a comms mix-up with FFG OP (apparently). So could - and probably would - have been even higher.
