Hey guys,

My group owns Sentinels of the Multiverse, is Marvel Champions better?

If so, why is it better? We don't want to commit when the game looks very similar.

I would say different.  Not better.  Champions has deck customization which means you have interesting decisions to make to spice up a hero's deck playing experience.  Also Champions has way less modifier and token management required whereas SotM can get very busy early if you don't use some tool to help you track stuff.  That said since each deck is crafted for the hero and villain it was designed for then those decks feel more thematically targeted.  Champions does try and strike a nice balance in that 15 cards are hero specific in the deck and establish their theme.  The rest is filled out by cards you select from an aspect you pick.  So you pick a hero and a sub theme for the deck.  Something like Captain America Leadership might focus on ally recursion and/or the avengers synergy. 

 

I think they are different enough that your group could potentially support both.

I have to say, phillosmaster said it about as well as it could be stated.

 

I have both, but, since Marvel's release here, I haven't even considered playing SotM.

That's not to say it's 'lesser', or anything, but it DOES say somethin'!
