On to the Elimination Round of the 2020 Spring Online Tournament!

XKYlzJn.png

Players who make the cut will have until Tuesday May 12, 11:59pm to pm Yodaman and lock in their decklists.  We will get those posted for all to see as quickly as possible.  Deadline is pushed back as we resolve final standings in Group B.

The Elimination Round is single elimination best of 5.  During the first two rounds where there is a higher seed, that player may decide which deck they want to play first.  Games will alternate between decks for the first 4 games.  During the finals and semi-finals the starting deck is decided randomly.  Should a 5th game be needed, the player with more game-points earned during the match may decide if they will play LS or DS in the 5th game.  If that is a tie decide randomly.

Feel free to split your games up across multiple nights and report as you go along.

Is there an expectation for how quickly we need to get through each round?

So former World Champ, Tom Melucci (aka Ozrix) streamed today's top cut match between Letux and DavFlamerock.  He's willing to stream the other top cut games so if you're in the cut and willing to let him do that, please reach out to Tom and try to coordinate things logistically.  The streamed games are a great way to help promote the game and let people know we're still around.

The game(s) between Ethan and I will be recorded and posted on my youtube channel.

Ok. Colby beats Ethan in some manner. Spoilers saved for the youtube video once it uploads. Kiramode, I'm coming for you.

Ok. Colby also beats Kiramode in some manner. Again, spoilers saved for the youtube video. There are 3 games played in this video, and I did win the set overall, but to keep the ambiguity of how the games played out, I have the remaining games of the recorded on another video. (Of course, if I won in a clean sweep, there will be no other video posted). Who's next?

Me and Drew aren't quite as fast as you guys, but we did get the first game done. Drew won with LS, and I got the dial to 9.

Thanks for recording your matches and putting them up on youtube.  It's been great to watch them.

In regards to the rules questions you had in the one game, dbmeboy can correct this if I'm wrong, but based on my reading of the flow chart in the initial rules guide on p. 30, I'm pretty sure Kiramode was correct.  I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'll be vague, at the point you were referring to, if both players have no participating units immediately after the edge battle resolves, there is still an action window before the engagement ends.

Absolutely. I think it's tough for me to record both screens of a game that neither are mine, but I could think of something. Scheduling is the bigger issue. I was very happy to have the holiday to pump out all the games.

If anyone wants to play things that are recorded, let me know I guess?

EDIT: I've fixed this. Down to record anything between anyone with anyone else casting with me

JollyRoger and I played our first two games. I started as Light Side and won with the dial at 7 after getting a huge resource lead that allowed me to deploy a wider board.

I only won the second game because Sector Lockdown showed up when JollyRoger had a hand full of duplicate units. Even then, he was one damage short of winning.

Two more games done for me and Drew. We split DS, so we will be playing the fifth game as well; the plan is to get that done tomorrow.

In game 1, I got locked out of Sith for the second time in a row (just like in my and Drew's first game), but double Defense Protocol does incredible work - especially with a turn one Functionary - and Drew couldn't get units out fast enough to blow them up; he got 4 damage on one of my objectives.

In game 2, Drew was the one with double Defense Protocol and I got to feel that pain. And man, does that sting! But somehow I managed to blow up two of Drew's objectives, redeem a Phase I Dark Trooper, search the feelings of an Endor AT-ST and put 2 damage on another objective.

You both double Defense Protocol'd each other?  Brutal!

So it goes to an epic 5th game!  And you split LS and then split DS too.  We wait with bated breath.

I'm super excited.  Will Niles Ferrier and Shield Chewie advance, or will it be BoShek and double Screed??  Either way it's awesome.

An incredible Game 5 with Kārlis. He opted to play Dark Side. The Emperor's Shuttle/Emperor's Favor combo gave me a lot of trouble throughout the game, so it was a relief when I finally got the Shuttle off the board. Other key moments included me taking a gamble on destroying Sector Lockdown with balance damage in an attempt to lock him out of Navy resources (it worked!) and playing Tricks and Nonsense to shut down his ability to play The Emperor's Favor from the discard pile and to trigger Janus' reaction in a key engagement on his last turn. I also put BoShek into play with Trust in the Force upon Chirrut's death and used him to help push through the win on my last turn. Kārlis had gotten the dial to 9 and would have won the next turn.

Great series. Looking forward to the next match.

That's what I get for forgetting that Tricks and Nonsense exists :)

This was a great series indeed! Good luck in your next match! And to our organizers - the tournament has been a blast, I hope we get another one soon! And I loved this best of 5 format, and hope that that makes a return in the future too.
