5th Deluxe Expansion announced -Terror in Venice

Assuming that the conspiracies are the only neutral cards in the set (article says there are 7 of them), then that leaves us with 48 cards between 8 factions, which means each faction will have on average 6 cards.
The numbers spoiled so far paint an interesting picture:
Agency - 4, 11
Cthulhu - one with number unreadable
Hastur - 15, 16, 18
MU - 22
Neutral - 24, 25, 27
Shub - 34
ST - 42, 45
Syndicate - 47, 49
Yog - none
If a faction's cards are scattered throughout, this means little, but the grouping of the numbers leads me to believe that a factions cards are all sequential. The order of this expansion also seems to follow the order of the last cycle of chapter packs and the Seekers box (Agency, Cthulhu, Hastur, MU, Shub, ST, Synd, Yog, Neutral - with the exception of neutral being in the middle). This means that Agency has no fewer than 11 cards (#1-#11), but most likely more, unless Cthluhu has only 3 cards (#12-#14); I think it much more likely that Cthulhu was displaced to a later spot, maybe after Shub.
So my prediction is that this is actually a Agency-focused expansion, with Agency getting around 12 cards, and all the other factions receiving roughly equal treatment at ~5 cards each.

LOL. Just a little elementary deduction. You just convinced me this is the right game for you. With an analysis like that your deck building must be brutal.
Agency could use a shot in the arm. That new nun Abbess something, she is very good.

So just speculation here, but what if this pattern continues? Two faction boxes, then a setting box. It'll take longer to get all the factions out, but the late factions will get more cards in a setting box than they would in a faction box I think - plus it's the perfect place to concentrate on enhancing mechanics. I could go for that.
How about Syndicate, Hastur, and an Orient Express themed box for the next trio then? Anyone with me?

Hmmm... Maybe Transylvanian Express? This game is lacking in vampires, and I think they could do it in a tasteful, non-pop-culturey sort of way. Arkham Horror has them, so I would think they're somewhere in the mythos. This looks very cool, and brings Night & Day back in a big way. The Conspiracies sounds awesome too, FFG is really going all out to reinforce some under-used mechanics in this set.

Meh. I'd be fine with a couple of Star Vampires, thoughHmmm... Maybe Transylvanian Express? This game is lacking in vampires, and I think they could do it in a tasteful, non-pop-culturey sort of way. Arkham Horror has them, so I would think they're somewhere in the mythos.

To be honest, apart from the faction-themed box sets, I'd be most interested in seeing some of the characters and creatures from the CCG. They don't necessarily have to be reprints. I'd love to see them revisit the various Masks of Nyarlathotep, for example.

Yeah, Nyarly has always been one of my favorite themes. I honestly didn't really like the treatment of the masks from the CCG, but I like the relic versions of masks in the LCG. I think the only semi-thematic set has been the Forgotten Lore cycle with the Dunwich stuff. I'd love to see a set with a new Nyarlathotep and tons of masks, and stuff from "The Haunter in the Dark": Shining Trapezohedron, Church of Starry Wisdom, Dimensional Shambler, Star Vampire, Robert Blake, Ambrose Dexter, Enoch Bowen, Nephren-Ka, and even the Valusian serpent people.

Most of Chaosium's and Pagan's books are already sitting on the shelf.

You know, the investigator factions really need more tutor stuff for their expensive guys. I don't know about this - it seems a little broken - but something...broken dreams baby
If FFG prints one single card with a twinkly vampire though, I'm out. After I burn the card.

There are no conventional vampires in Lovecraft that I've ever heard of. There are some creatures that have the word "vampire" in their name, but only because there's no other word that fits.

So it's possible that Abbess is #1, and that all factions get equal treatment in this expansion.

I got a little more info from Damon after alerting him about the possible typo on the Abbess. He had an appropriately vague response as coming from someone on the design team at FFG, saying that sometimes marketing uses old files for announcements, and that the correct version of the card went to print.
So it's possible that Abbess is #1, and that all factions get equal treatment in this expansion.

I also like the Agency character. It will slot well into the mono-Government deck to protect Special Agent Clarkston.

What about the MU event? I feel like that has the potential of being abused with Yog. Ditch your discard effect cards and get back events and stuff. And it replaces itself if it's day, although I'm not sure there are enough good day cards for MU and Yog to warrant that...
I could see running a copy or two of that in my Misk/Yog Things in the Ground deck. You always end up with something you need in your discard pile at some point usually, and that is a cheap way to get something like Curse of the Stone back.
