So, I just picked this story card at random because my comment applies to all story cards.
Do people like that story cards can have dramatic effects on the game? Personally, I think powerful story effects add needed drama and strategy to the game, but I could imagine some players preferring their decks either stand or fall on their own merits. When I've watched clips of Worlds or Nationals, the stories themselves were rarely triggered. Stories are obviously the one element of the game a player has almost no control over.
The Stories add variety to games and add strategy as you say. Conspiracies provide a measure of "story control" but there is still the randome element of the non Conspiracy core stories.
