I've heard people talk trash about this guy but almost every miskatonic character is a student or faculty so he reduces almost every character you put into play. The way I look at him is he is essentially a cheap support card that reduces your student and faculty characters. Who doesn't like making people come into play cheaper? He has worked out rather well for me. I hope other people are starting to see his potential as well. The fact that he reduces research cards is the cherry on top.

This is a great piece of cardboard. The kind of deck he synergizes the most with (Students and Research) isn't the most popular or tournament worthy, but he is a great workhorse for that archetype.
There are many nice Faculty cards as well.
Lucas Tetlow (SoK) for 1
Other copy of himself or Alternative Historian (SoK) for 0
quite nice
