Is this card really useful in a cultist deck?
It could be a good way to prevent the Foul Induction-Temple loop, and it helps cut down on other trigger from the discard pile tricks. The only downside here is its lack of protection from insanity effects (such as Obsessive Zealot, which would definitely be in a cultist deck).
Cultists tend to kind of suck in combat, so I would see him as a useful buddy to help them compete better at stories. He also shuts down some recursion tricks which is just a generic useful ability against some decks.

I have really grown to appreciate this card lately. Actually, I really hate this card, but that is only because I put it in a deck for my younger son (10 yr old) and he keeps getting this out first turn and shutting off all the recursion tricks that I like to run in my decks
As a mostly Shub player I hate this card. It's fantastic. Not only against Shub of course, but being unable to get rid of it without Yog/Cthulhu or whatever makes it even worse. The cheap invul alone makes it worthwhile to chump-block stories where you don't have to fear the T struggle.
I think it's a really great and versatile card. The only other 2-cost card with Invulnerability is Lucas Tetlow. It has the Monster subtype and is capable fo shutting down recursion shenanigans. I really wonder why I haven't tried this in one of my decks yet?
