For some reason, this card is incorrectly showing up as part of the core set.
Is this card good in a cultist deck?
It can be. The key is to grab a Cultist then sacrifice it to the Temple before the end of the phase.
The remove from game effect doesnt happen if the cultist is in the discard pile?
I actually don't know if it happens or not for sure, but I do know you want to use the Temple either way! Seriously though I had assumed it still gets removed from the game, but I guess I could see it somehow not being removed. The rules in this game confuse me more often than I would like.
I believe the action would have to complete regardless, so it would still be removed from the game regardless of it's location. Of course, if you're using it as sac bait for temple as Ssjevot said, who cares heh
Please correct me if I'm wrong though, but it is listed as part of the cost and no if able or anything, so I think that card is toast
I don't think it is.
For instance, Azathoth's (Secrets of Arkham #46) 'lose the game at the end of the turn' effect does not trigger if he leaves play, either by entering the discard pile/being blanked, etc. The card's effect is being interrupted, so therefore it does not complete.
At least that's my understanding of it...
A different question - what if the character you grab is returned to hand?
Personally I like the thought of grabbing an opponents Peaslee in my Operations phase, then taking one of his characters with it and preventing any recursion ideas he may have in 1 go. Sure, it requires Peaslee for that, but he sees a lot of play, plus I'd only put this guy in with the intent to hit my own discard pile, with this being a cherry on top of a nice cake.
I don't think the creature is removed from the game. What if it's in your hand at the end of the turn, or shuffled into your deck, by another card effect? Would it get removed from there too? I say no, but I've been wrong before.
For the Azathoth question, see the rules about passive effects. Passive effects are treated just like Forced Responses except they can't be cancelled like a triggered response can be. However, passive effects still only occur at the appointed time, so I think blanking Azathoth would prevent you from losing the game. It makes sense that the Called by Azathoth would combo well with Azathoth himself.
From the Zone of Play section in the FAQ:
"A card that moves from an in-play zone to an out-of-play zone to an in-play zone or from an out-of- play zone to another out-of-play zone is treated as though it were a new card."
So this "new card" should have none of the old card's delayed effects hanging over it. So, if the returned card leaves play (to discard/hand/deck/other) then it's not subject to the Bone Sculptor's remove-from-play effect.
