I am brand new to the game, But I like the style of greyjoy so I decided to make a greyjoy deck. Any advise would be appreciated.

Basically the plan of this deck is to grind away your opponents decks with the priests and raiders. The you can use some of the cards to steal cards from discard piles or to take advantage of the full discard piles.

Finally valar will kill damphair and your disciples to mill your opponents decks and bring a character back t the field for you.

Take a look and let me know how you think this deck will fare.

So, I am not sure what is a better path to focus on. What is more important, getting initiative to mill my opponent with the fanatic, or letting my opponent go first so my drowned crewmen can steal his gold?

This is why I like retaliation, it lets me get initiative, and then I let my opponent take the first turn while I steal his gold.
any time you win initative you can choose your opponent to go first anyway
Drowned Crewman only works in a melee game, so in joust they are just a 2 str 1 icon for 2... not the best...

I would suggest focusing more on the Holy element, the plots that help the holy characters are very strong and can enable some insane turns if you happen to go first... I would suggest burned and pillaged, sparr or bay of ice to help with init
I would think that drowned crewmen would be good in jousts. If your opponent gets to go first then you can steal a bunch of your opponents gold, making you have more to spare and they high and dry. But what would be some other good holy support cards to replace them with?

Although I would not mind fitting some cost reduction locations into the deck. Knights keeps me from getting extra gold but not reducing costs.
The thing is, you can't use the drowned crewmen's ability in joust, because it only gets it if there are more than 1 opponent....

But the deck looks pretty decent, have you tried it out yet? I found the holy focus in baratheon pretty strong (asshai deck) and might want to try it for greyjoys....
The Bara Holy deck has a lot more synergy than the GJ build, but as pointed out, The Power of Faith can make for some awesome turns. The issue I have with the GJ build is that I feel the personalities are overcosted for their abilities and Icons.

The deck is fun to play though so persevere with it as im certain it will get more support in future sets.
