Deck Name: | saved greyjoys |
Deck Contents: | Total Cards (60) House (1) House Greyjoy (Core) x1 Agenda (0) Plot (7) At the Gates (GotC) x1 Valar Morghulis (Core) x1 A City Besieged (CD) x1 City of Sin (AToT) x1 City of Soldiers (TBoBB) x1 City of Spiders (TftRK) x1 Summoned by the Conclave (AHA) x1 Character (32) Damphair's Drowned (FaI) x3 Fishwhiskers (CtB) x1 Greydon Goodbrother (TK) x1 Island Refugee (RoW) x3 Qarl the Maid (AJE) x1 Theon Greyjoy (SoW) x3 Aeron Damphair (VM) x3 Moqorro (VD) x2 Newly Made Lord (TftH) x2 The Sparr (APS) x1 Maester Wendamyr (KotS) x2 Coldhands (THtW) x1 Ambitious Oarsman (RoR) x3 Euron Crow's Eye (ASoSilence) x1 Euron's Enforcers (DB) x3 Ironborn Marauder (TGF) x1 Victarion's Reavers (CD) x1 Location (26) Longship Black Wind (CbtC) x1 Longship Iron Victory (KotS) x1 Longship Maiden's Bane (AHA) x1 Naval Escort (ASitD) x3 Refurbished Hulk (OSaS) x3 River Blockade (RoR) x2 Scouting Vessel (KotS) x2 The Iron Cliffs (HtS) x2 The Iron Mines (KotS) x3 Bloody Keep (KotS) x3 Street of Steel (Core) x1 Street of Sisters (Core) x1 River Row (QoD) x1 Shadowblack Lane (Core) x1 Longship Silence (ASoSilence) x1 Attachment (2) Scurvy (TftRK) x2 Event (0) Point of the deck is to combine Aeron Damphair, Theon Greyjoy, and maester wendamyr/moqorro to draw a bunch of cards and kill a bunch of enemy characters. At the gates and Summoned by the conclave help to search out the pieces, while other city plots help to control the board long enough for the card and board advantage engine to take over. The cheap setup characters = fishwhiskers, gran, refugees, damphair's drowned, and ambitious oarsmen. The oarsmen are the base of a raider package that tops out at Euron, enforcers, and one reavers. An early oarsman and some warships can allow you to play your high cost raiders cheap, and nothing else in the deck costs more than 3. The curve is pretty low. 16 0's, 14 1's, 17 2's, 8 3's, 4 5's, and a 7. With 10 econ cards (refurbished hulk = super efficient!) and an overall cheapness, the deck can dump its hand early and keep up with 4-5 cards/turn, leaving an empty hand that negates the otherwise weak intrigue defense. All of the save (maester, Moqorro, 5 X save locations) makes valar unworkable for opponent, so walking into a sweeper isn't too much of a concern. Brienne can be a pain, but there is plenty of cannon fodder to claim. Brienne and No Quarter can kill Theon, and then with Brienne still stopping saves from claim, there's no opportunity to trigger Aeron, and the deck grinds to a halt, but you can't win them all. A huge warship fleet makes challenges very difficult for opponent. 3 naval escorts act as a soak for choke's river blockade. They also allow for our own blockades to do double work, and provide the hulks with something to do when all the locations are played. The cheap warships also work very well with the oarsmen to push out expensive raiders early. Location control = 2 newly made lords, victarion's reavers, and a city besieged. Character control = theon and claims. To kill specific problem characters like brienne with a dupe or bodyguard, there's scurvy with valar. No attachment control because attachments aren't too much of a worry. Overall, this deck is very fun and offers a reasonably high win rate. It has a strong setup with an aggressive proactive game plan, and it offers answers to most of the big meta decks. It does have a weakness to burn, which can kill key characters like Theon. |
