I've actually never tried this deck out, because I don't have ~50% of the cards I listed, and that's why I've decided to share the idea of Lionguards. Maybe someone here will like it and play-test it. The deck is pretty nedly, I'd say. Except perhaps for Gerold Hightower, but he's not really an important part of the deck, so feel free to replace him somehow if his presence bothers you. When it comes to gold curve or icons counting etc., I have to admit, that I didn't pay much attention to that aspect of deckbuilding this time. Once I get a chance to try Lionsguards out, I will apply necessary changes. And now for the strategy: Lionguards are designed for melee games (preferably 4+ players, so that A Champions Arises would have any impact - for 3 players games you may want to replace that card). Main idea behind this deck is to claim powers through Tywin's and Jalabhar's abilities (also Daven's, but that's limited to once per game). With those characters on board you can just refrain from declaring challenges at all. Defensive oriented Kingsguards and their agenda fit the scheme. Misinformation is supposed to fill defensive hole in intrigue, since this deck is pretty intrigue-light for Lannis and The Only Game that Matters can really work wonders when it comes to the remaining challenges. Plot deck is not really thought through, however every one of those plots is worth considering for this deck in my opinion. You will notice lack of Valar Morghulis. It's definitely wise to add some sort of reset, I'm just not sure if Wildfire Assault isn't better option here. |
