Tried this deck out over the weekend in a melee match. The deck played real well. Strategy is pretty simple. Get out your dragons with as many dups and you can. Use summoning season to grab Danny, so your dragons don't have to kneel to attack.

I went with KotHH instead of the summer agenda, because of the two influence you can start the game with, the gold is nice too. If you are playing a melee you can ambush a dragon in first turn.

I put Copper link and old nan in the deck to turn other characters to dragons.

Put Pyromancer's cache in for card draw, i didn't see one in my game. Don't think my card draw hurt me, but having one of those out could have really helped.

let me know what you guys think

tried myself also making a dragon deck. i will list it shortly on the site.
i put ambush from the plains in as event and more initiative plots so i have always initiave. this gives you a great combo to play balarion much faster, rather then paying him.
should try that.
why you did not put in the attachment dragon sight? if you are running a summer deck, it should be interesting?
ambush from the plains (qod) is a good card, but three of the dragons already have ambush and I really don't think it is worth ambushing balerion the black (roto), because it wouldn't set off his response.

I really like dragon sight (asos) and almost put it in my deck. There really just wasn't any room for it, plus with daenerys targaryen (qod) none of my dragons kneel to attack, so I really don't care who they defend with.
Glad to see you put this one up finally. Works out really well. That Copper Link (GotC) and Dragon Bite (AE) combination is mean.

You would think with so many dupes, you'd be in a bad situation if they got killed but I never saw you use Maegi's Promise (QoD).What was really surprising was that it did really well with 3 ppl attacking you at once.

Good Deck!
I have made some changes to this deck and will be making one more when the next chapter pack comes out. I will submit the changes then. One change I made though, I added Widow's Watch (GotC) to help me get my dupes out a little quicker. Only played this deck a couple times, but it has played well both times.

I like the deck a lot, and you have a lot of neat ideas I plan on adding to my own Dragon deck. :)

Is there a reason you don't use Meereen? I know there are a lot of Dragon locations now, but I'd think it would be nice to help protect the dragons from events and such.

Also, have you considered using Pyat Pree? He scares the daylights out of people and can even kill characters that are immune to character abilities.

Songs of Bael the Bard might be nice for an additional way to turn characters into Dragons. If you added in Widow's Watch, maybe Alliance would be useful too, as well as a second copy of Old Nan.

Another reason not to use Dragon Sight is because it ruins the stealth the Dragons have.
I took Meereen out because I was having a hard time keeping my deck around 60 cards. Though I have been considering fitting it back in. There was one melee game I was in that I was getting hit pretty hard by events. Lost three dragons in the first three turns. Was still able to pull out the win in the end, but it wasn't easy.

Pyat Pree is an awesome card. I did consider putting it in my deck. The reason I decided to leave him out was because his effect only works if he attacks alone. My goal is to attack with as many dragons as I can. Could still use him with Int. challenges, but I normally use Danny for the renown.

Songs of Bael the Bard would work really well with this deck. Not sure what plot I could remove to get it in there, but I'm going to look and see if I can. I have been considering taking summer out of my deck, which would free up a plot card there. I have played with Widow's Watch in the deck a few times and it works really well. Alliance would be nice, but don't think it would be worth removing any of my other plots for it. I only have one copy of Old Nan, or I might have tried to get another one of here in the deck.

Thanks for the advice on the deck. I really enjoyed putting this one together. I have made a few changes with the new chapter pack coming out. Once I try the deck out with the changes I will submit it for everyone to view. I'm a little afraid I'm trying to do to much in the new deck, but I am looking forward to giving it a try.
I have a couple of noobish questions. What is the love for Maester Aemon (Core)? I see him in a lot of decks. For 2 gold you have a character who cannot attack or defend and whose special rules are of no use to you. I understand you have the copper links to attach to him. But wouldn't Maester Aemon (ACoS) or Initiate of the Citadel (QoD) be better (for the same cost)?

Also what is the value in Maester Wendamyr (KotS)? For a cost of 4 gold you have a ST1 character whose special ability you can't use. Am I missing something?

Cheers

Aemon (Core) and Wendamyr are used for the same reason: they can each save themselves (and in a Greyjoy deck, Wendamyr can save others.) This allows you to soak claim on military challenges and survive Valar with better board position.

Unfortunately, the other Maester Aemon can't take chain attachments, which makes him less useful in the current environment.
Nice deck - thanks for posting!

Couple questions:

1) How did you cope with the whole "no setup phase" in general? How did your opponents try to exploit it? How did you overcome the initial drawback?

2) Do you think that using the chain/maester and Old Nan to get more "dragon" traits on the board is overall more efficient/effective than the "blood of the dragon" attachment?

Shenanigans answered the value of having Maester Aemon (Core) and Maester Wendamyr (KotS) in a deck, I just wanted to add that the reason I have Maester Wendamyr (KotS) in the deck even though he would cost four gold to play, is I play at the gates (GotC) on the first turn which allows me to play a Maester from my deck into play, so I don't have to pay the cost. Also, I play mostly melee games, so being able to kneel two influence to stand him back up is very helpful.

I tried the deck with and without a setup to see if not having a setup was really hurting me. I found that starting with two influence made up for not having a setup, especially in melee. If i can grab the influence title I have enough to ambush a dragon in on turn one. It's like starting the game with nine gold and I almost always start out with "At the Gate", which makes it like im starting out with 13 gold.

"blood of the dragon" is a nice card, but it doesn't work very well with this deck. my goal is to have my dragons attack without kneeling. "blood of the dragon" wouldn't take effect until the character was in the challenge, which would have to be knelt. "old nan" and the maester chain are just added bonus if i can get them out. this deck is all about getting danny and the dragons out as quick as possible with as many dups as i can. works really well too.
I see what you mean about "Blood of the Dragon".

Well, thanks again and good luck with your future games!

Thanks! That's really helpful, I hadn't spotted that. If I need to explain this to someone even newer than me, what is the logical argument? Is that because the Maester Aemon card is 'Moribund' and so gets to use his ability before actually being placed in the dead pile?

That is correct. If you were to select Aemon for claim, then he would be 'Moribund' which would allow you to use his ability before he had to be sent to the dead pile.

I can't see that 9/12 gold. Can you explain that to me please? Thank you.

Sure, no problem. I play melee most of the time, so this is based off that.

I get 2 gold from Knights of the Hollow Hill (MotM)
I start the game with At the Gates (GotC) which gives me 3, so I'm at five gold

Knights of the Hollow Hill (MotM) also gives me two influence. If I am able to grab the Influence title card or play a card with influence, I will get another two influence. With that I can ambush a four gold dragon into play. With the five gold I already have that's brings me up to nine gold

At the Gates (GotC) Allows me to search my deck for a maester and put him into play. I have several maesters in the deck with two or three gold cost. Which would put me at 11 or 12 gold on turn one, depending on what maester I grab.
I see what you mean now. Thank you :)
im also playing my dragon deck
will post it in a later reply if anyone is interested. (running on a kinda limited cardpool atm got all the deluxe expansions 1x core set and the complete cycle brotherhood without banners)

now i have tried the hatchlings but i dont really see the use of them except for dupes witch actually cost 2. im playing vs stark direwolves and just stark chars alot and its bloody hard once i start losing i dont see a way to get back into the game he kills pretty mutch every character of mine.

im DEF gonna try out the kotHH agenda most of the matches i play vs the stark player he places alot of locations in setup + some cards in shadows and when i have a decent setup he plays Valar as his first plot :'(

If you are running Daenerys Targaryen (QoD), the hatchlings can become very useful. One having deadly and another one having stealth. I mostly using them for the dupes though. My deck is built completely around having as many dragons out at a time that I can get, if they get killed, then my deck won't win. Getting two or three dupes on one of them can really help a lot. Also helps with Valar. I almost always come out of a valar in pretty good shape.
