On building a neutral mercenaries deck, I noticed a lot were Targ and a lot had the war crest. Switched to House Targaryen instead of Neutral faction to get Meraxes. Summer activates Sam & the ravens, Gilly, Summer Reserves, Kraznys, the Long Summer. Die by the Sword and Price of War play off the war crests. Raise claim with Pike Phalanx.

Probably could use some trimming!

You could definetely play incinerate in there too with so many targ mercenaries. The long summer seems rather useless in this deck as you have many high strength characters that doesnt need it.

What about Gold Cloaks? You can't go wrong with card draw.

Also, you have quite a few armies. Is it worth running some army tech?

Sadly Gold Cloaks are House Lannister only! Army tech could work, are you thinking High Ground or something else?
Scorched Earth looks pretty nasty! It's quite expensive at 3 gold, but imagine having this out if your opponent controls no armies! Make them go first and they'd have to pass challenges to you or make a useless first challenge. Hrm. . .

High Ground or even Training Grounds for non-kneel. Is there no other way to take full advantage of Tattered Prince besides Fleet from Lys x2? What if you bumped it up by 1?

You may end up needing Retaliation to get the full effect.

He lowers the cost of the first Mercenary played each round by 1, even the in-house ones. A lot of the non-Targ Mercs are house X-only. There are a few Lanni & Martell ones, but they don't seem very good.
Recruitment is a nice targ event for Mercenaries, though quite influence intensive if looking for high cost cards rather than say, Disgruntled Mercenary. May not be a fit for your deck.

I'd acually stick with the summer subtheme, because it boosts up some of your targ mercenary characters and there's plenty of room for it.

Have you considered losing Summoned by the Conclave, knocking Tattered Prince down to x1 and running Kings of Summer?

I'd also lose Slavers Barry and Castle Darry, and sub in more 0-costers, like the aforementioned Disgruntled Mercenaries and the Refugees.

As Targ no-agenda goes, it gathers on-table strength slower and cards in hand slower than the typical Dothraki aggro, and doesn't have much to make up for it. I'd strongly consider making it more efficient, and going Kings of Summer.

Recruitment seems inefficient unless I work in more influence. Definitely looked at it though.

I actually made a KoS deck first, and I think you may be right. The extra draw is really nice, although I should mention I haven't actually played this Mercenaries version yet!

Yeah, I realized after posting that I forgot the Refugees. I guess I am still not used to them being off the restricted list. I do have them in my KoS deck which is very similar. This is definitely a Tier 2 deck but I've been waiting a while for Mercenaries to gain enough steam to be playable. It might not quite be there yet.

I haven't been playing for a year yet and one this I seem to realize, and it may just be my meta, but Tier 2 deck are fun until they get a boost to Tier 1. Not sure if this is the same for anyone else...

I have had some success with Rorge (LoW) in a similar deck. Although mine has some higher initiative plots which helps with that. Getting a three or four claim military challenge using him and Pike Phalanx (QoD) can be pretty devastating.

I'd say the opposite is true.

I was disappointed for a long time that the very fun Lanni Clansmen deck was consistently losing to T1 decks. However when JC Wamma built Clansmen go to Ashermark he raised them to Tier 1, and essentially it was the dragonbone dagger - ashermark knight deck that made the whole concept viable. His version is even more fun to play than the original T2 deck, and a lot more effective.
