Since this card does not say terminal does that mean that you can choose to not trigger it's effect, allow the character that it is attached to, to die, and then return it to your hand to use on another character? Or if the character dies due to Wildfire and cannot be saved do you get the Bodyguard back in your hand?
Yes and yes.
It is not a terminal attachment, so if the character it is attached to leaves play, it returns to your hand.
Can be useful if you attach it to someone like Viserys or Bran.
"You guard that fellow. Well, pretend to. Under no circumstance take a bullet for him, I need you later"
Since the Bodyguard art depicts The Hound, it's kind of nedly that during Wildfire it doesn't work as a save since The Hound runs away instead of saving someone.
What happens if you cancel bodyguard's ability with treachery? does it get discarded anyway? if not, can your opponent use it again?
Cancels like treachery only cancel the effects, not the cost (anything preceding the "to"). The bodyguard still gets discarded.
thanks, just wanted to check!
Would Bodyguard protect from Varys's ability? Bodyguard mentions "Discard" while Varys "Removes from the game". Are those same terms or different?
Therefore Bodyguard can be used to save from Varys's ability.
