Why is this not 'challenges' action? Isn't the qualifier 'participating' referring to participating in a challenge? What else can a character participate in?

This has been mentioned elsewhere, but it may be possible with future card releases to initiate challenges outside of the Challenge phase (like in 1st Edition).

Do other STR modifier's stack with Dracarys, such as the -1 from Daenerys during challenges, or the -2 from Plaza of Punishment?  Thank you.

Yes they do stack.  If this is played before any other negative modifiers are in place, the "killed if it's STR is 0" will also kill the character when another negative modifier brings the characters STR down to 0.

You could play Dracarys!, then trigger Plaza of Punishment later to kill a 6 STR character, for example.

Can i kneel opponent's dragon to use this card ? :)

Can i kneel opponent's dragon to use this card ? :)

No. In the "do X to Y" constructions, everything preceding the "to" is a cost. You may only pay costs using cards you control.

Can i kneel opponent's dragon to use this card ? :)

Unfortunately not.  you can only pay costs (in ths case the kneeling of the dragon/Daenerys) with game elements you control.

As per Page 5 of the RRG:

Costs

A card’s gold cost is the numerical value that must be
paid to marshal or play the card.
Some card abilities are presented in a “do X to do
Y” construct. In such a construct, the “do X” aspect
(preceding the word “to”) is a cost, and the “do Y” aspect
(following the word “to”) is an effect.

 - An opponent’s game elements may not be used to
pay a cost.

 - If a cost requires a game element that is not in
play, the player paying the cost may only use game
elements that are in his or her out of play areas and/
or gold pool to pay the cost.

 - If multiple costs for a single card or ability require
payment, those costs must be paid simultaneously.

 - If any part of a cost payment is prevented, once
all costs that can be paid are paid, the process of
initiating the ability or marshaling/playing the card
immediately ends without further resolution. (The
card remains unplayed in its owner's hand.)

 - An ability cannot initiate (and therefore its costs
cannot be paid) if the resolution of its effect will not
change the game state.

What happens if you play an event to increase their attack so it is higher? Like Dracarys is played and Castle Black is knelt to give a character extra attack or For the North when the Dracarys would put the strength at zero?

It depends on what happens first, which can sometimes be determined by who is the first player. If the strength boost is triggered BEFORE Dracarys and keeps the character's strength above zero, then the character will be safe (at least from one Dracarys).

Some examples:

Castle Black - This will only work if you are the first player, otherwise Dracarys could be triggered in the action window after defenders are declared to kill the character before Castle Black can be triggered.

Margaery Tyrell - This can easily get around Dracarys because the effect can be triggered before the character is even participating in the challenge.

Iron Fleet Scout - Like Castle Black, you need to be the first player to ensure safety. However, if you are running Iron Fleet Scout you are likely running Greyjoy as your main faction and would probably be going first more often than not, whereas Night's Watch players generally want to go second.

Heartsbane - Same as Castle Black.

Notes:

Risen from the Sea is currently the only way to "save" from Dracarys, and only if it boosts the characters strength to above zero. Asha is a common character saved with this event.

The Hand's Judgment is great for cancelling Dracarys.

Look out for other "burn" effects to combine with Dracarys, such as a surprise standing of Dany (e.g. with Handmaiden) to reduce by a further 1 strength.

P.S. Ktom/Istaril, I hope I didn't stuff any of that up.

It is worth noting that both Castle Black and Iron Fleet Scout until increase strength until the end of the challenge, while Dracarys! lasts until the end of the phase. So if you are first player and manage to use those pumps before your opponent uses Dracarys your character will survive but only until the end of the challenge, when the strength pump wears off.

This is true.

Found the answer in the forums. Thanks

How does this work with regards to duplicates? If I have say 3 copies of Theon do they are burn away or just one?

Dracarys can burn through all the duplicates, so they won't have been able to save Theon from the death pile.

From the RR, "Save" p18-19. Emphasis mine.
xxIf a constant ability or lasting effect imposes a
condition upon a card that would continually drive
it from play (for example, a lasting effect that applies to
a character over a period of time, and kills that character
if its STR is 0), any attempt to save the card must
also remedy the ongoing condition. Otherwise, upon
resolution of the save attempt, the card is immediately
re-exposed to the ongoing condition, and removed
from play. Therefore, if the save effect does not also
remedy the ongoing condition, it cannot be initiated,
as the effect has no potential to change the game
state. As such, using a duplicate to save from such an
ongoing condition is also prohibited.

So Theon dies, and his duplicates are discarded from play.

what was the answer?

Can this be used in a melee game to Dracarys! another player's character who is NOT challenging you, but another player.  Since they are technically participating in their own challenges, and Dracarys! doesn't specify it has to be a challenge against you.

yes, you can use this event on any character is partecipating in a challange. you can even use it on your own (a little bit retarded but possibile)

If I have a Strength buff that lasts for the phase on a character and my oponent plays dracarys on this character. Do both effects end at the same moment or does the first player decide which effect wears off first (so if the targ player was first player he or she could decide that my strength pump would end before dracarys so that the character would die)?

All "until the end of the phase" effects wear off simultaneously. The first player does not have a say in this.

RRG page 13 "Modifiers"

Any time a new modifier is applied (or removed), the entire quantity is recalculated from the start, considering the unmodified base value and all active modifiers.
- The calculation of a value should treat all modifiers as being applied simultaneously.
RRG page 16 "Priority of Simultaneous Resolution"

If a single effect affects multiple players simultaneously, but the players must individually make choices to resolve the effect, the first player chooses first, followed by the other players in player order. Once all necessary choices have been made, the effect resolves simultaneously upon all affected entities.

- If the resolution of two or more when revealed abilities, delayed effects, or forced abilities would resolve at the same time, the first player decides the order in which the abilities resolve, regardless of who controls the cards bearing the conflicting abilities.

- If two or more constant abilities and/or lasting effects cannot be applied simultaneously, the first player determines the order in which the constant abilities are applied.

Note that in the situation that you describe (Dracarys vs. STR buff until end of phase), two lasting effects CAN be applied simultaneously, so this entry does not apply to it.

Why. or would they technically die before you get a chance to use the second one?

To put it simple you cannot initiate a save effect if that effect is not going to save a character. So you cannot tecnically play the first one.

I am new, so you can use Dracarys only on character's participate in challenge?
